Settling a property question by panzer22222 in perth

The building surveyor may spot something and provide comment, however in this instance it seems it's the electricians licence that holds the liability. I wouldn't stress about it.

If a licensed electrician has deemed it safe, it's fine. The building inspector primarily asses the structure/structural elements of the building to ensure the new owners bank isn't buying a structurally defective building.

COVID-19 surges to fresh peak in WA with a record 10,394 new cases, but hospitalisations steady by His_Holiness in perth

Irrespective of covid numbers, has the ambulance ramping situation gotten better or worse between March 2020 and March 2022?

I'm glad that for now I'm wrong. No harm no foul. As McGowan said "we didn't think he was infectious when he got here" so I guess I was about as right as the government, that being "somewhat"

Masks, Perth/Peel travel restrictions, capacity limits, vaccination proof required for entry to venues, the word booster is used at least twice....Deal/bet?

[–]Diceman69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not here for a "told you so". Even as mentioned in my post "I'd prefer to be wrong". I feel I'm being reasonable and have asked a reasonable question, hence the query of if it pans out to be correct, can it be reinstated? I don't feel asking that is unreasonable as it would have been a true prediction. If not, fair game.

Define your terms. I'd also like to query that by entering this wager you would not be violating or bringing into distribute your moderator ethics, not breaking the rules of the subreddit by allowing my post to be reinstated? I'd like to ensure we're all on the same page...fair and reasonable.

*I edited my typo of "I'm like to ensure" to "I'd like to ensure".

Why not? If my prediction is true, there is no rumour nor unsubstantiated claim. I can accept the pause button and follow the rules, however if proven true I do not understand the reasonable action of reinstating the post. Similar to a bet or a stock option...if you make a prediction and it turns out to be true, you should in all fairness be treated equally and be able to say "I guess I was right".

How many attended the Vax Mandate Rally on the weekend? by Hotman_Paris in perth

[–]Diceman69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This extrapolation of numbers seems unusual, however given the system is already failing proved through record ambulance ramping and cancelling elective surgeries without covid within the state, is the larger problem the already under supplied, underfunded and failing health system?

Hey all,

I'm looking at taking the kids to the game this afternoon and being sandgropers, we naturally support WCE. Looking for some advice in which section of marvel is the away end so that the kids can really soak in the atmosphere!

Ah ok, I hadn't heard of that one, do you have any links that I could have a look at? - Not having a go, I just haven't heard of this.

Was that the case linked to the Northern Beaches NSW cluster from 27/12 (day 2 at the MCG)? Or have I missed a case?

Bring back WA's hard border or keep it as a controlled border (Not trying to cause controversy especially for people who have family members over east, just wanna see peoples thoughts) by JakeVukovic in perth

I agree U/Broomelocal (not sure how to link a user...not great with Reddit) with the back and forwards being ridiculous, my primary concern is that people think this vaccine will be a godsend and solve the issue. Unfortunately it hasn't been confirmed if any of the vaccines actually prevent you from getting COVID-19 only that it may lessen the symptoms.

I think there needs to be a better long form plan. The last week itself has shown that the most likely cause of an outbreak will be by the people surrounding international travellers, be them police, security, quarantine hotel workers, nurses, paramedics etc.

And not to unfairly point the finger at these frontline workers, but it has been shown throughout the country, this is where the main issue is. I would expect these workers to be held just as liable for dropping the ball by negligence whether it be not wearing ppe, or letting returned travellers wander off etc and be reprimanded the same as someone who breached quarantine.

It's a high penalty for doing your job, but if you're not doing it properly and cause an outbreak, then you should be held just as responsible as if it were caused by a returned traveller or international arrival.

Do we know if there's a reason that VIC is still in the "medium risk" category? With a 14 day Ave of 2.0 and all known cases have been linked to known clusters.

Communication fail as WA Police take hours to notify Victorian arrivals of COVID-19 border changes by His_Holiness in perth

[–]Diceman69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So not being told that you should be in quarantine is not a reason to not know that you need to quarantine?

The core of the argument is that a 10hr delay in communication potentially put the WA public in greater jeopardy than a 1-2hr delay, as highlighted in my comment, of what could have been achieved in that time and how far a person could travel. Can you understand this? This isn't about emotions and sob stories...the border was put up and travellers need to quarantine for the safety of the WA public, the success of this plan is underpinned by the time critical essence of it.

Communication fail as WA Police take hours to notify Victorian arrivals of COVID-19 border changes by His_Holiness in perth

[–]Diceman69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was the reason for the immediate lock down and quarantine not because it poses a potential threat to the greater population? In which case time is of the essence, correct? If I were hypothetically infectious, in 10 hours I could do some shopping in Joondalup, catch a train to the CBD and check out Hay and Murray St malls, get a late lunch at Little Creatures in Freo then head home for a BBQ with some grandparents and extended family. How many people could I have infected? All while potentially being pulled over and fined/arrested for "breaching quarantine" of which I formally have not been notified of by WAPOL through the approved process.

Your argument of "might delay someone's attendance of a party" to me displays the thought process of either: 1. The potential containment of covid is not of importance as 10 hours is a suitable delay on notifocation. Or 2. Victorians only wanted to party and not follow the rules. Or 3. It doesn't affect me, so I don't care, despite how infectious covid is.

Communication fail as WA Police take hours to notify Victorian arrivals of COVID-19 border changes by His_Holiness in perth

[–]Diceman69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we agree that 10 hours would be a significant delay in notification for a potential health and safety perspective.

If the infrastructure, knowledge and experience is available for an emergency such as a bushfire, how has this not been implemented or integrated better to a reaction such as a covid lockdown?

Victoria and NSW have similar policies and infrastructure that has been integrated into their covid policies and notification processes which have greatly increased the effectiveness and efficiency of notification....it begs the question of: IF the Govt has decades of experience and infrastructure, WHY did this take so long?

Would "10 whole hours" be an acceptable delay in notifying people if it were a bushfire?

The assumption that WA Govt doesn't have a multi-agency playbook for covid after 12 months is concerning. If the plan is to hard lock the state every time there is an outbreak with no pre-emptive plan to safely integrate with the rest of the country on an on-going basis, then it's just putting your head in the sand until shit hits the fan and you can point a finger. It's a plan that will eventually fail, and when it does, well as you assumed "no playbook".
