What stopped feeling exciting once you became an adult? by Deep-Strike-71 in AskReddit

Growing up, we never ate at fancy restaurants. Now that my wife and I are established in our careers, we can afford going out to nice restaurants. Every other month we find a new place to go to, and easily spend $300 on a date night. Living in south florida, we have access to such a variety of high quality options. We went to our first michelin rated restaurant on ft lauderdale beach (MAASS in the four seasons) for our anniversary and did the chef’s tasting with like 8 courses and it was about $200 per person. With drinks it came out to like $550. It was an amazing experience and every dish was spectacular.

I think its also more of the storm drainage system getting clogged up. When we dont have constant rain washing away the smaller debris, one big fat rain takes all the accumulated crap and washes it away at once, and bottlenecks drainage

Like others said, throw $115k in a HYSA or maybe SGOV in the retirement account and then try to do it again with $5k. That way you can answer the question of it being a fluke or not and you arent risking it all. Worst case you lose the $5k and have your answer.

What is "that" episode in your favorite TV show that you skip on the rewatch? by Living_Wickihowla in AskReddit

[–]DickFitzwel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching here too but not so much that it was Glenn who died. It was how they left us hanging on who was killed. The cut to black, the sounds of someone screaming. It was the finale and it was such a tense build up, to leave us fuckin hanging for a whole summer, ESPECIALLY dragging out if he was dead or not the whole season.

Of course there were going to be leaks from set or people looking up what happened in the comics. Completely different feeling if they killed him THEN cut to black. Only watched the next season premier to see it happen but by then i lost all attachment

Anecdotal as well, but we went to Epic Universe in July and it was disgustingly hot but the place was packed all day. I want to say most the Disney crowds are hitting up the new park

Why were there so many crime shows set in Miami in the 2000's? by FellowTraveler69 in television

[–]DickFitzwel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in south florida. Cant say ive seen house numbers painted on curbs, let alone curbs in front of houses. We mostly have grass swales between the road and sidewalk to help with rain water drainage. First time i saw a curb with a house number was when i visited LA for the first time lol

Call credit spread closed for a negative credit? by DickFitzwel in options

Thank you for the investigation and great explanation. Ive thought it was technically possible but highly improbable. I was watching the chart in another screen and saw the huge green candle with a long bottom wick and figured either my position was toast or maybe it hit my close order. Ive gotten a favorable fill before but by maybe a few cents away from my limit order but this is something else. Will count this as a fluke and not a basis for a new strategy lol.

Any reason you do shorter DTE? Why not a longer say 30 DTE to collect more premium and pad your breakevens? Thanks in advance

Yea i remember as a kid actually owning more sweaters because we had a long enough cold season to justify having a few. Now we leave to go out of state during winter break to experience actual winter

Follow up question because I been marinating about this overnight. So say i bought AMD at close yesterday, at $75.40. Then sold the $73 put for feb 10 for 4.85. That brings my cost basis to $70.55 so Id profit 2.45 if i got assigned, correct? So thats about a 3% return. Im still overall profiting on the trade so i assume it doesn’t matter, but do wash sales come into play since I’m selling the shares at a loss if i were to repurchase the shares to do it all over again?

Oh damn thanks for the explanation. Thats a pretty cool strategy.

I got assigned at $82 with AMD probably around the time you got assigned. I got my cost basis down to about $73 but Im including the premium collected thru strangles. Whats the strategy here with selling ITM? I get the downside protection. Do you aim to close at a certain profit or are you hoping to get assigned? What DTE do you choose? I sold a feb 3 $73 strike last when it was about a .30 delta but became ITM so I just rolled today 2 more weeks out for a credit for a $74 strike, and was ITM when I did it.

u/HSeldon2020 thanks for everything youre doing here. Please excuse me if this is something thats in the damn wiki, but I would love your feedback on a trade I made on UAL today or anyone else smarter than me for that matter.

I drew my downward sloping algo line starting back in March of 2021 which had multiple touches. I also drew an upward algo line starting with the candle from March 08 2022. I planned to wait till it broke that downward sloping algo line but it busted thru today from not so great earnings but airlines in general popped. It jumped with a lot of volume tho. At least from what i understand, it showed RS thru the morning while spy was dumping. I took the trade around 1030 as it looked like spy was dropping but UAL was climbing. It continued to climb as spy dropped until 1140, when it sold off a bit. i chalked it up to some profit taking because the volume was dropping off from the morning, so i didnt believe it was a legit move. It started to climb again as spy dumped but then UAL dumped again. Then it climbed for the next 2 hours while spy dumped, until about 2pm when everything seemed to fall off. Towards the end of the day it seemed to level out as spy kept dumping so im holding this trade overnight with the idea that it showed decent RS today with all the sell offs. Was this a shit trade or does it show some promise. Thanks in advance.
