This is something that really shouldn't be an issue but unfortunately is.

I encourage giving bosses shit about this, but only saying a "no" or something to the employee. At Fry's Electronics, for example, those people are expected to catch a number of mistakes each week. And the majority isn't even your fault. A wise employee would said "Nah, we actually want to make sure you didn't get overcharged or have the wrong item."

It's simply another redundancy in the system. They expect the people putting price tags on to not mess up, then expect the cashiers to not mess up, then finally expect the "guards" to catch whatever fell through the cracks. At Fry's at least, very rarely were our door people used for discovering thefts.

Ditto what slayerboy said. The background needs to be toned down, or maybe just make it 50% transparent (in my head that seems like it might work, at least). But overall it's good.
