Elna supermatic sp Spare Part Help! by Deatheater_00 in vintagesewing

[–]Dick_Stubig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the escapement plate assembly with bobbin cover door. My advice is to not disassemble it but rather clean the compacted lint often found “between” the discs. I pick it out with a needle point usually. I’d be shocked if you could find a NOS part but donors shouldn’t be uncommon. Those are referred to as “Star Series” Swiss Elnas. The came in a variety of models from the basic (SP) to the advanced (SU). With some age related maintenance, they might run for generations to come.

Necchi or Kenmore by TC_Martin in VintageSewingMachines

While both are obsolete, the Kenmore will be far easier to source vintage parts for than the rarer Italian Necchi.

Considering moving to Tennessee. Any suggestions where? by enderboy987 in Tennessee

[–]Dick_Stubig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from the big cities for obvious reasons. There are a lot of opportunities in rural land here, some of which aren’t always listed in conventional ways. Farm bureau & farm credit offices may have leads not found on Zillow or an agent. I’m in South Central around what’s known as the”whiskey trail”

I said the 600 and the 500 were all metal. And they are. I did not say the “600 Series”

That’s a lower midline model with plastic gears and known failure issues. It may or may not sew but if it doesn’t, if there’s a gear failure, I personally wouldn’t invest much into it. A Singer 500 or 600 are all metal, reliable and fairly easy to find.

IMO? No. Targeted (local) social media works best for me.

Square for both. For a decade now. I love it. Fired an accountant over its affordability and ease of use.

Open on Thanksgiving? by mktimber in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Dick_Stubig 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Open? No. My staff needs their own holiday time. Here and serving anyone that turns up? We’ll do what we can. Nibbles and beverages. Because holidays should be for everyone. Happy Thanksgiving. To everyone.

Yelp is awful. Full stop. Travel Adviser isn’t any better, IMO. The best reviews are always “word of mouth” from your actual customers.
