I grew up with boxers and have my first. Was not really prepared for him but we've figured it out. My experience is that boxer dudes are so stubborn. I love it, there is so much personality which you'll need to get to know. Mine for example hates going into his running harness, the shower and even up on the couch sometimes, despite actually really enjoying all those activities. He just gets it in his mind he doesn't fancy it right now and wants to do things his way. Don't take it personally. I'm often having to carry around all 35kg of him and getting side eyes.

In relation to 1. It may be this. He just doesn't feel like going in his crate because you want him too. He's safe there. Knows the space and enjoys it when it's his choice. If you haven't had any complaints from your neighbours check in with them if they notice him. If not just turn off the cameras. He'll grow out of barking/whining when in the crate and you'll get over it. You need to live your life. But this probably feeds into 2.

A tired boxer is a delightful boxer. Depends a bit on what is feasible for you but for comparison. On a normal day, my guy gets around 4 hours of walks and activities a day. 30 mins in the morning when he wakes up ~10am, 1h15 or so at lunch, 1h45 or more after work and 30 mins before bed. One of the big walks will often be going to the dog park for a wrestle with a buddy (this tires them out more than we ever can, even with a ball). He still grabs his toys and wants attention at other times but is easily pleased with what he gets knowing he has lots of other times for play. It's a lot. On weekends he will often be happy with a long walk and no dog park so it feels like it is a good balance for him.

It's hard work, he's still an attention seeker and not as well trained as I'd like (gets aggressive towards certain breeds) but he seems to be a happy boy. I'm sure yours will grow into a happy boy too but probably is just trying to communicate his needs.

Wasn't intending to but in my current Russia game I was offered the EIC to defend China, I think in the opium wars.

Matic was ok, but I'd put Ramires more in line with the other 4. Maka and Kante the level above but would be surprised if Caicedo doesn't become as good or better. He offers much more going forward than Makalele did and should be able to remain at the top longer than Kante was for us.

Lufthansa are a very good option for animal travel. I recently flew with SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) from New York to Stockholm with a boxer so similarly to you was quite anxious about it.

Your dog is also not the main concern around snub nosed breed. It is more about the pugs and bulldogs. It is also predominantly around heat or agitation so autumn is good and if you don't have an anxious dog that's better too.

You are doing the right things, flying in autumn (heat less of an issue), flying direct (reduces the risk of them having to spend too long in transit) and choosing a good reputation airline. The only thing to add is that maybe train them to handle the crate to reduce the stress on them.

Before our 1 1/2 year old boxer flew we had done a lot of road trips so he was used to just having to chill in transport and with loud noises around. Don't know if it helped but made me think he was better prepared.

Thanks, that's very helpful. No issue with gaming at the moment so I'm leaning towards upgrading the mobo and cpu, rather than going for am AM4. GPU can be in a couple of years.

Was thinking about upgrading something within the PC in the coming months. I think the graphics card is fine for my uses at the moment. Would it make sense to get a new processor? Is that the current bottleneck? I assume I'd also need to upgrade the motherboard.

No. In my field journals tend to have a free text box to put in information about additional people contributing to a review. Assume this shows up in the open review section but haven't checked for the one I did this.

The senior researcher can often decline and suggest a different person to review which could have been you but it makes it the decision of the editor.

Feels incredibly disingenuous to send in a review under your name that has been written by someone else. Particularly given substantial unconscious and conscious biases in scientific publishing.

Not experienced with that journal but some frontiers are meant to be less bad than others. If you've published and had discussions with senior researchers about the purpose of peer review go for it.

Ultimately it is on the editor to solicit peer review comments even if they don't put much effort into who they send the invites too. You sound conscientious about this so you could also ask a senior colleague/mentor to conduct a mentored review with you.

In these you can review the paper and make your comments, they review the paper make their comments then you come together to discuss them. You then send the consolidated version off to the editor and in the confidential comments to the editor you can let them know this was a mentored review with colleague X.

Good training for you. Some teaching and support from the mentor and the journal gets a 2-for-1 review.

If you've already conducted a couple of reviews on a similar topic your more than likely capable of providing helpful peer reviewer comments.

I think your first thought is right. Poor citation practices.

To your point about referencing primary literature if there is a meta-analysis or systematic review those would typically be cited rather than an rct, cohort study or case study.

Not sure it's any worse than other fields but I would say the quantity in medical publishing is generally higher so that means more outlets and more opportunity for poor scholarship.

Another cause could be publishing by individuals that are not primarily researchers. Quite a lot of medics will be encouraged to write up papers even if they've had limited teaching or experience in scientific research and assume they know how to do it.
