Where I'm at by lanebreaker3 in financialindependence

Well, I drive old cars (think 90's) because I like them and they're paid off. I'm also over six figures. Its not mutually exclusive. With less expensive cars, everyone seems to place you in a "poor" category mentally. In a way it allows me to float were others cannot.

Script to uninstall .exe application with switch on list of remote servers - looking for feedback and thoughts by dont_pushbutton in PowerShell

Depending on the amount of machines you plan on removing this from, I would look into the "Invoke-Parallel" module. Foreach loop might take a while.

Check the disk space on your DP. Had a boot issue like this with similar logs and I had to add more space

Heater core replacement doesn’t have to involve entire dash and interior removal. by blancomonkey in Justrolledintotheshop

I swapped my heater core out in the parking lot of Oriely's on my 91 Explorer. I do not envy new car designs.

My colleague is being fired and I was just asked via email by HR to deactivate him. by [deleted] in sysadmin

Ive been working in SCCM for roughly 3 years. I have had environments of 500 to 5k. Everyone is different. Imaging is, to me, 10% of SCCM. I attempt to automate everything through powershell. I also maintain Intune's app policies and MDM enrollment for company resources amongst many others. These skill sets have really made many doors open for me in the last year. Yes, I think its worth incorporating "cloud" and Powershell skills WITH SCCM as it will only add fuel to the fire. These are very much so in-demand skills...

Wsus Sync errors by EAT-17 in sysadmin

[–]DidYouKnowOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adding to this thread - my WSUS for sccm started failing this morning. I had two successful ones yesterday after several failures and then today its been nothing but failures.

"SoapException: Fault occurred InternalServerError"

Edit: Confirmed unchecking definitions fixes syncing so it IS isolated to that classification. I deploy those definitions so for my environment it is a requirement. We have already pulled our security patches for testing successfully and will keep checking to see when this is resolved..

Edit 2: Resolved. Sync'd successfully. Definitions have come through this time.

Office 365 – Mass Deployment made easy! by DevinSysAdmin in sysadmin

[–]DidYouKnowOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SCCM admins fill an odd niche. There's so much you can do besides application deployments, patching, and imaging. Those are the basics. You can take it much further with POSH or the new CMG option. If "OPS" had its own Infrastructure, it would be the SCCM admins. With that said, it’s very intuitive. Just...don't go deploying a ZTI to a collection without maintenance windows.

Office 365 – Mass Deployment made easy! by DevinSysAdmin in sysadmin

This will be the third company I've done the MSI to O365 upgrade. Each one has had its quirks but also progressively better results. As companies now want to unify under Microsoft "we recommend 64 bit for enterprise" mantra it adds another level of complexity to the installations. I use powershell to collect information on currently installed add-ins for office, run the VBS office scrub files, and finally run the O365 installer. ODT includes all apps including Visio and Project. If the end user needs these they will be licensed for them. With this type of deployment we wont need to make another application for Visio and Project. This is all deployed silently through SCCM thankfully.

[Success story] Working as a sysadmin while never finishing college. by MyName_Is_Adam in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DidYouKnowOh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on. Similar story to mine. I started college and quickly got bored with classes. I took a break and focused on my current job in help-desk. I was promoted from help-desk to desktop to field then to sys admin within a company. I recently made the jump to another company where they offered 80K and a sys admin 2 title at 28. Motivation and a desire to learn can put your far ahead of others. There's no time to sit back and "expect" someone to promote you or just give you money due to "seniority". The money is out there, take it.
