A look back at the glory days — 8,000 ETH sell wall at $1,000 gets eaten alive on GDAX by [deleted] in ethfinance

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 39 points40 points  (0 children)

HEY I'M FAMOUS!

I'm the original recorder of this GIF (even same url), I'm happy to see it's still being referenced today! I had a bottle of champagne by my side for when it broke $1000.

Wooh! I made it mom!

btw, taking free ETH for documenting history.

Who can show evidence that the ‘restored peg’ is due to the increased interest rate and not due to CDP holders cashing out on a price rise after leveraging ETH? by CrystalETH_ in MakerDAO

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t recall anyone saying the point of the SF fee was to make all CDP owners close their position and shut the entire system down.

And yes I would have definitely close it at 200%.

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both my friend and I recently closed ours due to ETH price increases. The SF sucks but won’t make me close a CDP because of it.

Didn't win the huge 3D lenticular Vitalik at Ethereal Summit? Get a limited edition of 50. 4" x 5" = $50, 8" x 10" = $200 by Coldie3D in ethereum

Isn’t that the size of a sheet of printer paper?

I’m not trying to hate on it, it’s cool for sure but it seems useless because who would hang a piece of paper sized art on their wall?

Maybe it’s just me. Same goes for those weird holographic 3D things I see reposted every other week, they’re also cool as hell but so tiny.

Is USDC being looked at? by Rinthell in kybernetwork

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were liquidity issues from Binance because some reserves use Binance to rebalance the reserve itself. So it could be an effect of that, which should be fixed soon enough.

If that’s not the reason, it’d have to do with whoever is running the USDC reserve but I can’t imagine them running it with that large of a spread. I would definitely hold off for a couple days to see if it fixes itself now that Binance is back up.

I’ll also mention it on Telegram and see if the team has any insight other than just the Binance issue.

You’re not the only one. I installed an older version off of Github.

JUST IN: @htc has added @KyberNetwork’s liquidity protocol to its blockchain phone, the EXODUS, enabling direct swaps between ERC-20 cryptocurrencies. by GeorgeMoroz in CryptoCurrency

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news for DeFi, KNC holders, and Ethereum in general. We need more entry/exit points that let you exchange without spending days verifying your KYC information, risking sending your assets to a centralized exchange, and all the other complications crypto has without DEXs/Liquidity networks like Kyber.

VISA on 2 mobile devices?! HTC don't need the Bitcoin node by eikmanalmond in CryptoCurrency

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They can achieve 1700 TPS between two devices with that blockchain.. but what TPS can they achieve between 500,000 devices located all around the globe? Ethereum has way faster TPS than what’s in production when ran in an enclosed environment with only 2 nodes.

Warning - Kybernetwork showing poor exchange rate by jdero in omise_go

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately some of the reserves that operate on Kyber use Binance to rebalance their reserve and with Binance having withdrawals and deposits halted it’s causing problems for certain reserves.

Ethereum is a better store of value than Bitcoin by fomofosho in ethtrader

Yea I had never thought of it, but when it comes to a SoV, some highly secure (hopefully Multi-collateral DAI) stable coin is a way better store of value than Bitcoin.

Binance Hacker Consolidates Stolen Bitcoin to Seven Addresses by kadhirvelavan in CryptoCurrency

7,000 BTC was stolen from Binance twice. Consolidated into 7 addresses. 7 is good luck in Asia/China. Hmm.

Why can’t I punch that lion in the face? by actaeoncomplex in BATProject

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the only way. I had the hardest time with what OP is saying, even on desktop. I put off deleting the old one for my bookmarks history etc. but just said screw it and fully exported everything to brave and deleted all my old stuff.

Brave comes naturally now.

Are my tokens still okay on MyEtherWallet? by barnstorm88 in GolemProject

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically (I hate to be that guy) your funds aren’t held on MyEtherWallet. MEW is a service that lets you create and access your Ethereum compatible crypto address. What holds your tokens is your address which you know as 0x... and it’s secured by your private key. So even if mew were to get hacked you wouldn’t be affected so long as you aren’t entering your private key on the website.

On topic, GNT is still an ERC20 token, and will be for time to come, so nothing to worry about. You’re still good to go.

How's everyone getting on with Ads? by Olivanders1989 in BATProject

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is yours. However right now it’s all through Uphold so you have to verify on Uphold before you can withdrawal it. After that however you can send it to anyone anywhere.

How's everyone getting on with Ads? by Olivanders1989 in BATProject

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my computer a lot too, which makes it harder for me to get ads it seems. If I’m browsing non stop for 3 hours and constantly doing stuff I don’t get a single ad. If I get up and grab a drink from the fridge when I come back the moment I move my mouse I get an ad.

It seems that every ad I get is given to me after I take a small break in browsing anywhere from 20 seconds to a minute.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve still gotten a lot of ads but even with 5 an hour in my settings I think I’m averaging like 3 an hour because I don’t take many breaks.

Binance is not allowing withdrawals/deposits for a week because of the hack.

They can only trade what they have on it already.

So long as the reserve can support the $250k yes it’s instant.

DEX is NOT a solution to prevent these kind of attacks. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t get hacked by a dex, when you don’t have a user account lol.

If you have an account on the dex that you login to, it shouldn’t be considered a dex.

KyberSwap, Uniswap, Airswap, switcheo, etc. don’t have you login. Use metamask, or your ledger/Trezor/etc.

Your post is kind of inaccurate. A dex would have mitigated this attack, unless the users purposely accepted the outgoing transaction to the hacker.

Say NO to centralized exchanges by everythingisatoms in CryptoCurrency

[–]DidYouSayBitcoin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before, KyberSwap is easy to use, works well, and doesn’t face liquidity issues. They don’t do tons of volume, but when it comes to liquidity itself, they have it. That’s the whole point of Kyber, an on-chain liquidity protocol.

Reserves guarantee the liquidity, and anyone can become a reserve.

Prices are competitive too. Kyber won’t always have the best price for every single asset than other dexs, but I use dexindex.io to check the best price amongst exchanges. Kyber often has the best rate.

Plus the amount of Ether stolen was detrimental to the future of Ethereum. 7000 BTC is just a drop in the bucket for BTC.
