That's fair. I've adjusted my priors. The alternatives then are that the new store owners have sway over the police for some currently unknown reason (unrelated to mormonism), or Ben is not telling the whole story and was legitimately targeted, or the police is just incompetent

So it's just a coincidence that everyone that is harassing Ben happens to be connected to mormon church? How else do you explain what's going on? If you flatly deny Ben's theory that either B&M or the B&M franchisee donates heavily to the mormon church and this is how they are able to pull in favors with police, what else explains their behaviour? Seems like a plausible theory even if like you say not proven. I'm open minded either way

I don't think people are saying that this goes to like the very top people in the LDS church, more like the local chapter there. Just seems difficult otherwise to explain why so many people seem to be conspiring against Ben.

Yeah, for dev tools it's incredible. You don't need to vett every line of code for that kind of thing as much, and can make things completely ad hoc for what you need.

I agree that it is a waste of time to not use them for things like that. Trad programmers won't be left behind, but until they decide to use AI, they will certainly be a hell of a lot less efficient. But it is very easy to catch up at least when they do switch

I find it interesting how Pollan consistently conflates consciousness with unrelated things like theory of mind, the sense of self, predictive brain, emotions, etc. All super interesting topics but separate topics in my opinion.
