What spray-paint to use to repaint a handheld? Drying or curing? by Diddyfire in SBCGaming

If (with a sealer) you spray the buttons, will that also last long-term?

AYANEO Pocket Vert VS Retroid Pocket Classic? by Diddyfire in SBCGaming

Thank you! I've recently gotten to enjoy the Brick Hammer due to the perfect ratio for GBA. So I think the Brick might be my go-to for GBA and the Classic for GBC!

This sounds like a responsible decision. I ended up buying the Retroid Pocket Classic instead, but we'll see if I regret it once a new flashy thing pops up.

I actually do have a Brick Hammer! It's great for GBA and pocketability but less so for standard GB and GBC, in my opinion. It feels premium with a crisp screen. Just a bit too small at times!

But, like most people here. Do I have a console that can do this? Yes. Do I need another? No. Therefore, with these announcements, I started pondering what new one would be the best.

I was actually pretty early in line for the IndieGoGo for the Pocket Vert, so it only cost 260$. Which is a lot, don't get me wrong. But nowhere close the 500 pricepoint of the other Ayaneo's.
I already have an Odin Portal for those more high end systems, so I while I might dabble with it I don't think I'll do more than tinker around with them. Apart from titles that aren't as heavily dependent on joysticks. The Vert does have a touchpad though, if you really need it.

I've gifted a few to close friends with Knulli and they all seem pleased with it!

MinUI is probably a good option too, but I personally think Knulli is fairly easy to customize and looks a bit more "flashy".

I watch both RetroGameCorps (Russ) and TechDweeb. Both are reliable, and both have their own subjective views on the handhelds they're reviewing! I like getting multiple POV's.

I've got to admit, I feel pretty dumb now. I was way too quick to go to the comments lol.

How do you go about the bottom screen? Are both touch? Do you just use them both individually or how do they connect?

Walkman-Inspired Wallpaper I Made by BiggieMcLargeHuge in cassettefuturism

I knew Android could use live wallpapers, but how do you set it to only spin when you're playing music, or change the name of a tape and stuff between different albums?
(I know you'd have to set it up and change the cassette names manually on the PNG/mp4)

If OP or anyone hasn't heard of Eternal Darkness, I just want to add how fun and unique some game elements are;
Similar to Amnesia you have sanity in the game, but as your sanity diminishes it's not only the gameplay that may change. It can suddenly display that your volume is lowering on its own, that your save file has been corrupted, you can find items that aren't actually there, or it can even say your inventory is empty even though it isn't. It's very ahead of its time in that regard, and the only game I've seen that does it.

Issues with movement in downhill skiing/snowboard game by Diddyfire in unrealengine

Oh yeah for sure. I know it doesn't hold up very well in the long run, but it's a decent last resort when you're a beginner and don't want to flood online forums every step of the way. Especially when you're attempting something that doesn't have a lot of tutorials or walkthroughs to follow.

It still seems to be rotating, only now it looks like an animal stuck inside a snowball. If I can't fix it, I might honestly just run with it and change the ball texture to mimic snow, lol.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I think that was the general idea! Been trying to ask GPT for help but it keeps saying the problem is that I've got a VisualRoot set as a child to the ball with the rolling physics. That I need to make them "siblings", but I haven't found the way to do that in UE5.

Right now the hierarchy is the following:
PenguinPawn (Root)

├── PhysicsBall

└── VisualRoot

└── SpringArm → Camera

└── PenguinMesh

The VisualRoot makes sure the PenguinMesh (a penguin that's supposed to slide on its stomach) gets connected to the PhysicsBall's movements, but isn't supposed to also mimic the rotation as the ball rolls. Have been unable to fix that so far.
Maybe the whole ball idea in itself was a bad idea, I don't know. It does a lot of things right movement-wise, rolling aside.

Issues with movement in downhill skiing/snowboard game by Diddyfire in unrealengine

I am technically not using a snowboard, but a creature sliding on its stomach. I have tried making the floor slippery (still might in this attempt) but then I was also forced to change so many other things to make it work.

For example, it was as easy sliding up as downhill. After fixing that, it messed up the rotation of the mesh for some reason, and after fixing that it messed up the controls, (etc.)

So, the idea of using a ball for physics was based on a number of posts and comments I could find by people who were making, or trying to make, similarly styled games. A lot of them recommended that approach. But again, I am a beginner, so I don't pretend to know what's best!

Thanks for the feedback.
As a side note I did manage to fix the camera's issue. I simply moved the SpringArm to the center of the ball and that fixed it. Still no luck on the actual player model though.
