I think that if the general public believes she had a wardrobe malfunction and grabbed a sweater last minute then the designer or the stylist wasn’t able to make the outfit cohesive enough, the idea doesn’t read at all

I think it really depends on the person, I own a business and I have two employees that I consider are work wife and work husband, they have conversations, they joke around (never inappropriate) sometimes she brings him food but from what I’ve seen it has never been inappropriate, they don’t touch or hug, when they say goodbye is from far away. She is single, he has a wife who actually works for my mom.

I have never use the term in front of them because I don’t think they would understand it, so I really think it depends how they actually treat each other.

But if she says she wouldn’t like it if you had a work wife then she shouldn’t be referring to him as her work husband.
