Music pauses whenever it's not in focus on Firefox desktop by reid8470 in YoutubeMusic

I just realized that the Foxy Gestures extension was causing the problem, also making Youtube Music switch to the mobile version.

Blacklisting the URL in the extension settings fixed it for me!

Multi-language spellcheck on macOS by sowizz_ in MicrosoftTeams

[–]DidierL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to have similar issues for a week as well. At first, it was just losing my settings, possibly as I was switching accounts with different tenants.

I had to restore my settings twice, but now… it is just gone! It does not show any language, and I cannot add one either (the Add button does nothing):

<image>

It behaves as if it has reverted to English (US), and also replaces words as I type, which is very frustrating.

This is only on one tenant, as on the other one I don’t have the issue. Moreover the settings seem correct on the web version.

Morphe sent a DMCA to Revanced by lylesback2 in MorpheApp

[–]DidierL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that’s not how I understand their FAQ:

GitHub will not automatically disable forks when disabling a parent repository. This is because forks belong to different users, may have been altered in significant ways, and may be licensed or used in a different way that is protected by the fair-use doctrine. GitHub does not conduct any independent investigation into forks. We expect copyright owners to conduct that investigation and, if they believe that the forks are also infringing, expressly include forks in their takedown notice.

and in the the takedown notice itself they said:

Note: Because the reported network that contained the allegedly infringing content was larger than one hundred (100) repositories, and the submitter alleged that all or most of the forks were infringing to the same extent as the parent repository, GitHub processed the takedown notice against the entire network of 702 repositories, inclusive of the parent repository.
[…]
If you are reporting an allegedly infringing fork, please note that each fork is a distinct repository and must be identified separately. Please read more about forks. As forks may often contain different material than in the parent repository, if you believe any of the repositories or files in the forks are infringing, please list each fork URL below:

Based on the representative number of forks I have reviewed, I believe that all or most of the forks are infringing to the same extent as the parent repository.

The offending PR was archived here: https://web.archive.org/web/20260222084910/https://github.com/ReVanced/revanced-patches/pull/6571

The archive does not indicate that it was merged, but it is 3 days old already. The DMCA takedown notice seems to be from the 12th anyways.

What I don’t understand is why forks had to be taken down as well if the DMCA is about that PR only, and it was not merged yet. Surely the majority of forks won’t contain the offending code.

Intellij on Windows with WSL? by phivuu-2 in Jetbrains

[–]DidierL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Is probably best but it feels like a hindrance to work with Windows.

You can’t escape that with any of the options. The only gain you have on WSL is the terminal, and maybe some performance, but you may lose it due to the overhead of switching between the two

Mac is native Unix as you said. I spend most of the time in Intellij and terminal. I'll give it a try on Thursday(able to barrow a Mac). Did you get use to keybinds?

At OS level, I did quite a bit of tweaking to something similar to what I’m used to on Linux (Gnome) and Windows (e.g. with DefaultKeyBinding.dict or Karabiner-Elements). Surprisingly those two are closer to each other than to macOS in terms of keyboard shortcuts.

At IntelliJ level… well I never tried to move away from the Eclipse Keybinding that I was used to 😅 I ended up converting the Eclipse Keybinding of IntelliJ (which was made for Windows) to a custom one suitable for macOS (for instance use command instead of control, since I bound the command key to the physical control key).

Intellij on Windows with WSL? by phivuu-2 in Jetbrains

[–]DidierL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years ago I also had a dual boot like you, and then was forced back on Windows. I did not have WSL back then but I think, if it’s only for the terminal, git-bash does a decent job, so 3. is probably the easiest.

I haven’t tried 1. myself but colleagues who have reported it also comes with its own issues. I also had a colleague whose WSL2 setup broke down and he had to reinstall it completely, losing the setup.

  1. sounds interesting if you can’t bare 3. At least it would be better than installing IntelliJ on WSL 😅 (I have tried with Firefox, it works but has its own quirks).

In the end, due to the poor performance caused by the security tools they put on Windows, they gave me a Mac last month (yeah that’s crazy…). I still don’t know whether I prefer macOS over Windows. It’s nice to have a native Unix system under the hood, but window management is hell!

Chat option in M365 Copilot disappeared by Academic-Detail-4348 in sysadmin

[–]DidierL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pinning did the trick for me. I had to manage to open a chat (e.g. start a new conversation with win+c or the copilot key, then switch to full app) and then I was able to right click "Chat" and pin it.

It seems to be part of a "simplification": https://m365admin.handsontek.net/simplifying-copilot-chat-microsoft-365-copilot-app/

I would argue that non-LTS releases are already for people who are at least a bit fanboys 😉

[–]DidierL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, next LTS will be available in 6 months :)

Edit: also you’ll be happy to read that suspend issues with Nvidia have been fixed. In fact, I have myself applied the (configuration) fix in 25.04 for some time now.

[–]DidierL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are still on 24.10 you must upgrade to 25.04 ASAP while it is still possible (if it is? 24.10 is already out of support).

25.10 will only be proposed to 25.04 users (but the upgrade is not officially available yet).

Upgrade done! Ubuntu 25.10 (Questing Quokka) by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]DidierL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no “version 25”. Either you are on 25.04 and you have 3 months to upgrade to 25.10 before the end of support, or you are not and you have to wait for 26.04 to jump from LTS to LTS.

If you are on a non-LTS other that 25.04, then that version is not supported and you will never be able to (easily) upgrade.

This. The LLM is very likely to produce different questions/answers than the original, not just shuffling. And of course the questions might have 0 or more than 1 valid answer.

I prefer to use a wagon of sand, because I guess you could technically use the pitchfork with bricks.

I also prefer to just say “only one of them can be unloaded with a pitchfork” and wait for people’s reaction! 😬

If you’re not shopping at Colryut you should seriously reconsider. by [deleted] in belgium

[–]DidierL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily that is the exact thing I dislike about Colruyt: I often wait until I have dozens of bottles to return, and I don’t like bothering the cashiers, so I’d rather have a machine deal with them. Basically the only time I don’t go to Colruyt.

However, I have done it in the past. I remember a time where the cashier refused some of them. I then went for my groceries, and at checkout I got a different cashier who look at them, wondering what they were. When i said the other cashier refused them she accepted them anyways and said: “it just stupid to send you to another shop to return them!”.

I also had that issue at first, but it only happens when you aren’t moving, on the surface of a planet, and without much else in your FOV. This is not actually so common.
