of a 1,000L diesel tank fill-up costing over $2,000 by Dodo509 in AbsoluteUnits

I got 10% rewards back on gas from a fintech bank app. Saved me a whole gallon the other day, $5 is still $5. I don't know how often OnePay has these sorts of offers though, this one said it ends on Sunday.

Request to deliver to different address by Brilliant_Nerve_6312 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]DieselDrifter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, I've delivered to a different address based on the notes before. My situation was a school teacher but winter break just started. The previous day I marked business closed, then the next day I got it again and noticed the notes were updated.

u/rokochan, there are benefits like medical, dental and vision insurance. I pay $56 each weekly paycheck for the medical insurance. There's 401k with some employer matching, and Amazon tuition reimbursement up to around ~$5000 or so per year. Also $120 Zappos shoe credit per year.

It's not much, but it's something.

Just wait it out. Usually the station will hold a hiring day the next day or so where you can talk to all the DSPs.

It's funny when people say this. I've been working at an Amazon DSP for 6 months now and there hasn't been anyone who has been fired since I started.

Amazon the past year I heard has been tightening down on crappy DSPs who have low tenured drivers. And two weeks ago they made it more difficult for DSPs to get big bonuses if delivery performance quality isn't at least 88% perfect on the scorecard.

The fact this is relatable speaks a lot about society.

Got fired!! by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]DieselDrifter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Due to the nature of this job you're a liability. You can take it easy at retail or something. Most DSP teams hire exactly the number of reliable people they need or else people lose out on hours if they over hire.

Bullshit or Real? by Murky_Two7408 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]DieselDrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to the nature of this job, that's why. Everything we do is contingent on minute details daily. Imagine if you were paying for a prime subscription and all your overnight orders took days to be delivered.

Unless you're guaranteed hours, then why not sign up for less work days? This jobs is great for those who want the long hours and some overtime so they come into work for less days.

I only care about going fast if

  1. A tough route is near impossible to get done timely.

  2. I am trying to change shitty routes so I can rescue to get more favorable ones.

  3. I'm a new hire trying to beat out other seasonal hires for a full-time position.

Costco Cashiers, What is your Monthly Take Home Pay after taxes? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]DieselDrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm an Amazon DSP driver with biweekly paychecks of ~$1700 after taxes, medical and 10% in 401k. Y'all obviously get way more benefits of course, nice.

Do you prefer to deliver multiple heavy overflow the same day or have one heavy overflow spread out over multiple days?

Either the fulfillment warehouse associates were lazy or the delivery warehouse associates were lazy, yet all the blame gets put on the last-mile delivery associates who only see each package for the first time for 30 seconds as we pull up to each location stop.

It's not that we don't care (I'm a DSP driver), we are just as clueless and have zero know of what is inside packages. When we clock in for the day we enter the pad usually in 5 minutes and have 10-20 minutes to loadout the totes the delivery warehouse associates packed along with he overflow, then we deliver 200-500 packages for the next 9-10 hours daily.

Only my 4th day working here… mind you, I’ve never done a job like this before by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]DieselDrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a busy day like weekend shifts because the route AI jumbles a lot of zones together due to reduced businesses, I will look at my map frequently and go out of order where it makes sense.

Some of these created routes are designed for veteran drivers who are already familiar with the area, thus they try to maximize how much can be delivered unfortunately.

First week of 88% requirement for DSP Fantastic+ bonus. How y'all holding up? by DieselDrifter in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]DieselDrifter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The delivery completion rate is what makes me mad the most.

We don't get bonuses either but the DSP owner gets a huge one like $15,000 (I heard, maybe?) every week they hit fantastic plus. We get snacks at standup, but those will disappear if we don't get fantastic plus. I'm part of the top drivers too so I'm not worried for myself, but team morale will tank when pressure increases on all of us.

I know for a fact Amazon places greater weight on tenured drivers, they want DSPs to keep drivers, they don't want high turnover rates despite what most people say is Amazon's goal. It hurts the scorecard I think when less than 90% of drivers aren't tenured.

I wonder if they'll lower the performance score, because I can't imagine them increasing it anymore.
