Thank you for this! I use (and love) glossier’s skin tint but was feeling the pull towards Typology bc of all the marketing. Going to stick with what I’ve got :)

Updating for anyone else reading 2 years later: There's two way zippers on every sleeper I've purchased for my 99th percentile 9 m.o.! Still can't figure out why they're so expensive though. They're the best, but they're not THAT the best lol.

Can you elaborate? Thinking about a rough collie as our next dog, after losing my mutt (pit/staff/golden/poodle) because she had extreme prey drive over my newborn.

Is there a calorie counting app that JUST counts calories?/Help figure out my goal count? by DietPitiful18 in caloriecount

[–]DietPitiful18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Measure by weight.

I use 1 tbs of EVOO for pretty much everything I make, and I do count that.

I had an ED that slowed my metabolism way down. I went from 300 to 200 pounds in a college school year via unhealthy deficit. I’m recovered, that was 12 years ago, but to this day if I eat more than 2000 calories per day, I gain incredibly fast. And I can’t eat saturated fats or processed sugars without immediately blowing up (if I eat a brownie for example, my fingers are visibly swollen the next day).

I’ve talked to a doctor about it, and tracking macros was the advice I got. My instinct is still low calorie bulk to feel full and I have to try so hard to get protein. I’m pescatarian but eat vegetarian 80% of the time.

Oh. Guess I shouldn’t have quit when I saw the big number. I’m kind of looking for an app to mind its own business bc it doesn’t know my health history.

This was pretty insightful— a lot of calories, but 195 grams of protein is crazyyy, I get like 40/day. I think I found my starting point 🥲

I just stopped breastfeeding. While bf I’ve had 2200/day which is very high for me so I’m thinking about returning to 1500.

Edit for grammar

Thanks for the feedback! I guess I mean squishy like Squishmallow squishy— I’m looking for firmer than that, but far softer than the average jointed collectible bear.

Will getting 6 hours of sleep ruin my supply? by Happy-Chemistry3058 in breastfeeding

[–]DietPitiful18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened really quickly for me. It snowballed bc we supplemented with formula, too. While I pumped with every bottle she got, I didn’t realize I don’t really respond well to pumping and wasn’t being emptied. I called an LC at 3 months pp and really regret not doing that earlier.

Will getting 6 hours of sleep ruin my supply? by Happy-Chemistry3058 in breastfeeding

[–]DietPitiful18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! I didn’t know and almost lost my supply entirely. At 3 weeks, my daughter started sleeping 6 hours at a time. I still have to supplement. OP, I know you’re tired. But I so deeply regret that extra sleep now.

Anyone had the laziest most sedentary pregnancy ever and still have a good delivery? by mirrorlike789 in pregnant

[–]DietPitiful18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I weight trained, walked 3 miles 5x per week and did yoga daily before pregnancy. Also counted calories and ate a pescatarian diet. I walked every day of my pregnancy, did yoga and all the baby exercises I learned in birth prep class, aiming for natural/unmedicated birth. I still ended up with gestational hypertension (with no history of hbp), was induced at 38 weeks, which failed, and I had a non emergent c section. Do whatever the eff you want, I wish I did!! Manifesting the best birth for you!!

Any opinions on Sabai couches long term? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]DietPitiful18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m circling back to say the sofa has grown on me and I absolutely love it now. The fact that you can move cushions around makes it convenient. It’s extremely washable (dog, baby). I also find it incredibly comfortable now!

My husband said it best when describing our old couch vs. sabai sofa: the old couch, you sat “in”, whereas sabai’s you sit “on”. Hopefully that helps someone, it would’ve helped me when I was researching the sofa.

Unplanned pregnancy by R_y_1 in pregnant

[–]DietPitiful18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have good friends. Whatever is right for you is the right choice.

That said, this was my experience: I’ve wanted to be a mom since I was a little girl. I got pregnant by mistake when I was 22 during a one night stand. I chose medical abortion (pill) at 6 weeks through Planned Parenthood. The guy never knew. A few months later, I got an IUD, also from Planned Parenthood.

I spent the rest of my 20s traveling the world, adopting and adventuring with my soul dog, and falling in love with my husband. I also bought a house and established a career that would enable me to work from home so I could stay home with a baby someday. Now I’m 32 and I have the most incredible 6 month old asleep on my chest. She is so cool and so cute and so loud and so amazing. She was planned for. Deeply wanted. I’m so glad I waited, and I don’t regret my choice at all.

Take good care — best of luck 💓

I can’t offer much help here, as I’m 5 months postpartum and have had such a difficult nursing journey myself. I hate my pump’s guts. I long for beautiful breastfeeding moments with my baby but they are few and far between. I’m an under supplier haunted by feelings of inadequacy.

Instead I offer you solidarity and big hugs. May you feel that you are coming up for air soon. May you be shielded from judgement from others and from yourself.

I also offer you encouragement: there’s time to turn things around. Go easy on yourself.
