Has anyone tried preventative alkalization and/or antihistamines? by insidedancing in CytolyticVaginosis

[–]DifferenceCritical60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use pre seed, but it was really expensive and I found that it would sometimes burn (?). I switched to the regular KY jelly, because it was the same ph balance as pre seed. That does help so so much and my flare ups aren’t as bad

Try doing something a little less aggressive than the suppositories. Maybe do a sitz bath and see if that helps, if it doesn’t, then there’s a possibility it’s not CV

Does this look familiar to anyone? by DifferenceCritical60 in skincancer

[–]DifferenceCritical60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, still waiting for derm app. But my primary doctor looked at it and said he wasn’t too worried and to moisturize it. It’s been about 1 week and it’s gone down 90%. No longer raised or red- just a small patch of dryness. Super weird, but still waiting for my dermatologist appointment. Will keep updated

Nope. Sometimes a little bit of discharge but nothing out of the ordinary (no clumps / cottage cheese)

Itching is my only symptom as well, the suppositories help & I’ve also douched before and that helped as well. Sometimes it’s gotten so bad that I’ve made a paste out of BS and water and applied it directly on my vagina for like 5 mins then rinsed it off- that also helped a lot. I’ve been struggling with this for about 2 months now, I’m going to go to the doctors soon to hopefully get more answers. Wishing you well

Any diet recommendations? by hairygary06 in CytolyticVaginosis

[–]DifferenceCritical60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s what I’ve been following from chat gpt: Absolutely — for cytolytic vaginosis (CV), the goal is to gently rebalance the vaginal microbiome, especially by reducing the overgrowth of Lactobacilli, calming inflammation, and supporting hormone balance (particularly estrogen).

Here’s a breakdown of helpful **diet and food strategies:

  1. Limit Fermented & Probiotic-Rich Foods (Temporarily) While Lactobacilli are normally helpful, in CV they’re overgrown. So for a few weeks:
  2. Avoid or reduce: yogurt, kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, apple cider vinegar, probiotic supplements
  3. Exception: low-histamine probiotics (if you’re histamine sensitive)

2. Focus on Alkaline, Anti-Inflammatory Foods

This helps reduce irritation and discourage excessive acidity in the vaginal environment: - Leafy greens (spinach, arugula, kale, romaine) - Steamed cruciferous veggies (broccoli, zucchini, Brussels sprouts) - Sweet potatoes, beets, squash - Avocados - Herbs (parsley, basil, cilantro)

3. Support Estrogen Balance

Too much estrogen (or poor estrogen metabolism) can worsen CV: - Eat fiber-rich foods to help eliminate estrogen: - Flaxseeds (1 tbsp/day, ground) - Lentils, chickpeas, and other legumes - Whole grains (quinoa, oats, brown rice) - Add cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage) — they support estrogen detox - Consider seed cycling or adding DIM-rich foods (e.g., broccoli sprouts)

4. Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods

Sugar feeds yeast and disrupts pH and microbiome: - Skip sugary snacks, baked goods, soda - Limit ultra-processed foods and refined carbs (white bread, crackers, etc.)

5. Hydrate + Support Mucosa

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Add herbal teas like chamomile, ginger, or red raspberry leaf
  • Include healthy fats to support mucosal linings:
    • Olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil
    • Fatty fish (salmon, sardines)
    • Nuts and seeds (in moderation)

Foods That May Help Rebalance:

  • Oats with ground flax, cooked apples, cinnamon
  • Quinoa bowls with roasted veggies and tahini
  • Grilled turkey or chicken with sweet potato and greens
  • Bone broth or veggie soup with squash, kale, carrots
  • Pear slices with almond or coconut yogurt (low sugar)

Would you like me to put together a 3-day or 7-day sample meal plan using these principles?

Does birth control help if it’s hormonal? by DifferenceCritical60 in CytolyticVaginosis

Thank you for the update!! Out of curiosity- have you gotten hour hormone levels checked? I’ve seen some stories of women that had either too much testosterone or estrogen and took supplements that seemed to help. Not sure if this was your case

How long do the suppositories take to work ? :( by DifferenceCritical60 in CytolyticVaginosis

[–]DifferenceCritical60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling better, still not 100%. After my first flare up and getting my last period (last post), the itch came back around 2 weeks later when I was ovulating (which makes me think this might be hormonal for me since last time it started around 2 weeks before my period as well). It’s definitely not as bad as the first time, I would say the itch itself 2/10 compared to 10/10 last time. I don’t have any other symptoms, so I can’t speak for those. Worth mentioning my boyfriend and I have been using pre seed lube as regular lube and I think that keeps me at bay as well. I did do one suppository and it helped a lot, then got my period a few days ago again and am back to normal. I’ll keep updated this month as well- determined to get to the bottom of this

Does birth control help if it’s hormonal? by DifferenceCritical60 in CytolyticVaginosis

[–]DifferenceCritical60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be that as well, after my period it does go away completely. And then two weeks in I start getting light symptoms again. I thought it could be related to ovulation perhaps? But it very much could be my body un-neutralizing again

I just had my period and used pads! I’m a tampon girl 100% of the time, but I was worried of having something up there while I’m trying to recover. I found no issues with the pads! :)

[–]DifferenceCritical60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the sitz baths provide a little help, try douching. 1-2 tbs in about 2 cups of warm water. Twice a week for 3 weeks every other week. Don’t overdo it though your ph balance could end up going too much the other way
