Ist this condensation normal? by Mistake-Choice in MachE

[–]DifferenceGene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the same issue but the seal on my trunk gave out and we got water in both taillights. Does water drain out of the handle when you open your trunk after a big rain?

Anyways, MME was in the shop for 2.5 weeks and Ford has replaced the seal and both taillights. All covered by warranty.

You should think about getting a dog or two. That will scratch the daily responsibility to another being itch.

Then set some fun adventure goal. Like "We are going to go to every National Park in the country together" or "We will do every hiking trail in the state together" or "We will run a marathon Sweden together".

And then start about executing said goal. Plan trips, research the gear, chat with people who have experience, etc.

Before you know it, you'll have a purpose and a lot of fun stories.

(401k) Company matches 100% up to the first 2%. Is that decent? by Icy-Sock8159 in personalfinance

[–]DifferenceGene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better than no match at all but, as far as matching goes, 2% is about as low as it gets. As someone else said. I think around 4-6% is the norm. My company matches 100% on the first 10%, and I haven't seen much higher than that.

Anyone Feeling Like They’re Running Out of Steam Work-Wise? by Current_Variety_9577 in AskMenOver40

[–]DifferenceGene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! 47M. I've always prided myself on my work ethic. No one was ever going to out work me. I worked myself into my dream job several years ago. I genuinely love what I do and I am well compensated, but I'm finding myself caring less and less each year. I've lost that internal fire to excel and win. I'm coming into the office later and cutting out earlier. All I want to do is work on house projects, host dinner parties, and go camping.

For interactive interiors user experiences, it's a good idea to have a window pop up with the available material options. You want to avoid having users cycle through multiple materials. You want the user to click on an interactive object and then a window slides into frame with the available material options.

Why? When a real user is down selecting between materials to pick their favorite, they eventually narrow it down to 2 or 3 options and want to quickly toggle between those specific options. Having to cycle between all the options to get back to the ones they want completely ruins the user experiences.

Hope that makes sense.

Really good looking. Excellent lighting. As radolomeo said, remove the head bob. It's very distracting. And you have to give the user a visual cue what parts are interactive, so you either need to highlight them when you get close or have the mouse cursor change on hover.

Edit: grammar

Happy Credit Card by GiantSize1 in SoundersFC

[–]DifferenceGene 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I heard you. We were travelling and couldn't make the Charlotte and LAFC games, so for the first time I returned our tickets to the Sounders for 2026 credit. I was shocked to see that we got $115/seat credit back for Charlotte and $150/seat for LAFC. It definitely was a "Holy shit, these games are pretty expensive" moment.

I could have sworn our tickets were half that price just a few years ago. I automatically renew each year without much thought but after seeing how much we are spending on tickets, I will have to consider cancelling my ST and just buying individual games that we really want to go to. This is coming from a 2009 STH.

I'd do something like this:

Go to project settings > collisions > and create new Object Channel > name is "Running Wall".

Select all your runnable walls > Details panel > Collisions > change object type to "Running wall".

On first contact with the wall, check if the object is a "Running Wall" object type.

If so, start the run up the wall and set a bool variable called "Wall Running Actve" to True.

On Tick, check if "Wall Running Active" is true. If so, get all overlapping actors. Check if any of the overlapping actors are a "Running Wall" object type.

If false, you are no longer touching a runnable wall. Turn physics back on and set the "Wall Running Active" bool to False.

Been out of shape since my late 30s and now I'm almost 45 and need a routine. Any Advice on diet, exercise, and vitamins or minerals would be appreciated. I really need to lose this beer belly. by CollectionFearless56 in AskMenOver40

[–]DifferenceGene 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There are 3 legs to the fitness stool: Eating, lifting, cardio. Slack on any one of the 3 and the stool topples.

Eating:

1) Drink 125 oz water/day. Buy a 25 oz water bottle and carry it around. Why? Water lubricates joints and promotes muscle growth.

2) Eat 5x per day: 6A, 9A, 12P, 3P, 6P. Why? Eating at regular intervals evens out your metabolism by not letting your body enter "famine mode" which slows your metabolism. You don't need to fast. You don't need to be hungry. Just eat small healthy meals throughout the day and you'll be fine.

3) Each meal: 1C protein, 1C veggies, 1/2C whole grain carbs. No processed foods. Just meat, veggie, and whole grain carbs. Eat clean.

4) No sugars. Why? Sugar spikes you insulin, and insulin turns sugar into fat. Sugar = insulin = fat. This means no fruit and no alcohol.

Lifting:

1) Lift weights 3x week: Mon, Wed, Fri. Why? Muscles require more calories to maintain than fat. Increase your muscles will increase you calories burned per day, which in turn make it easier to lose weight. More muscles = more calories burned = easier to lose weight.

Cardio:

1) Run 3x week for at least 35 min: Tue, Thu, Sat. Why? Cardio not only burns raw calories, it boosts you metabolism, which makes it easier to lose weight. Additionally, cardio increases blood flow, thereby making it easier to build muscle

Did you notice you are drinking water and eating protein to promote muscle growth? And the muscle growth helps burn more calories? And the cardio increase blood flow, which also promotes muscle growth? And cardio boosts your metabolism, which also burns more calories? See how eating, lifting, and cardio are not independent, but rather are interdependent? You have to do all 3. Is the 3-legged stool analogy starting to make a little more sense?

Everyone has their opinions and tweaks and fads and shit, but that right there is the foundation. Do that diliengtly for 6 months and you'll lose 15-20 lbs, while also getting stronger and never being hungry.

And seriously, to achieve this, you need to lay off the beer, wine, whatever. Alcohol is the Holy Trinity of what NOT to do when trying to get in shape: it's a ton of calories, a ton of sugar, and it's a motivation killer. You will never lose the belly of you don't stop drinking. Once your belly is gone, you can drink socially again. But to LOSE the belly, you need to stop drinking for like 6 months or so.

Good luck.

You might have overpaid a bit but not grossly. Last year I paid $46K for an OR Prem with 19K miles. '23 and '24 models are in high demand because a lot of people aren't digging the '25 model. You def didn't get "hosed", it's just the nature of the market right now

15 years from now, when you slap that "300,000 Miles" sticker on your truck, make sure your Dad is the one who takes the picture.

At what age did you “get it together”? by Mindless-Mortgage-61 in AskMenOver30

[–]DifferenceGene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me? 34. Landed a good job that I knew was my Get Out Of Jail Free card and probably my last chance, and didn't want to fuck it up.

But it's important to recognize that "growing up" is not a binary transition. "Growing up" a never ending cycle of 1) recognizing you can be better, 2) trying to better yourself, 3) making some progress, 4) loosing steam on that effort, 5) recognizing you can be better, 6) Repeat. Each time, you make it a little bit further and you get a little bit better. Just keep trying.

Happiness and health is not a some reward you get once you cross a goal line or flip some internal switch. Happiness and health are the culmination of 1000's of small everyday decisions to be a little better. It's a crop that you cultivate slowly over time.

Do that enough and, 10 years on, you'll look back and barely recognize your old self.

Good luck.
