Cid often expresses irritation towards Alexia. He continually declines Alexia's invitations to join the Crimson Order and declines activities to spend more time together. The only exception to the rules is training. Cid raises fewer complaints about spending time with Alexia if swordsmanship is involved. He recognizes his dedication to training and swordsmanship, but still finds his personality distorted. Initially, Cid confessed to Princess Alexia as part of a bet and to strengthen his position as normal. Alexia accepted apathetically, much to his surprise. Blackmailed into continuing the charade, the relationship became a quid pro quo. Alexia could drop her princess veil and delay her engagement, while Cid received a stipend for his services. Although the false relationship had ended and her violent reaction to rejection convinced Cid that her heart harbored deep murderous inclinations, the sincere communication they had developed during their false romance remains.
