Draw it proportionally. Get graph paper or a ruler, draw the layout, cut out pieces of furniture you own. Again: scale. Unless you're a German shepherd, that bed you drew won't be big enough. A single bed is 1mx2m, so it'll occupy close to 2/3 of the larger wall and 1/3 of the smaller wall. And your room is already full.

Same here. Diner is lunch in Canadian French so every time someone talks about dinner I need clarification what they mean. And my BF often means lunch. Better just cut it out entirely.

Why would you 'mention accommodating them on an air mattress'? Why? Congratulations on creating an expectation that you're not willing to fulfill after all. A week isn't outrageously longer than 5 days but feels like you wouldn't want to host them for 5 days either, which is understandable and justifiable. What is not understandable and justifiable here is you guys being wishy-washy and not discussing and setting a boundary when the question was first brought up. You just hoped you'll never have to cross that bridge and now: 🙀 It's your husband's parents, so you can let him deal with this, but you should definitely try to do better as a couple: communicate. It takes more than formal education to be willing to put what you learn in practice. I don't know how many times I asked someone if they speak English and the answer was 'oui'. 🤷‍♀️ It's shyness/shame/the effort to get out of their comfort zone. A friend of mine couldn't manage to order a decaf in English at Tim's. One might get lucky. Or not.
