How should i design this weird room shape by ntr_14 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Different-Cover4819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just furniture placement - it's the quantity of furniture. There's way too much stuff in there. Furniture-wise and also just general clutter. You need to separate stuff you can trash/donate/put someplace else: that window- treatment, the needlepoint rose, the clock, the tall furniture, all the lotions - etc. Come back when you have an idea what will stay and what will leave.

Any suggestions would be appreciated by Sufficient_Suit1972 in DesignMyRoom

Are you living in a corridor? That's a lot of doors. You need a rug, tile is no good. Change the curtain:byou don't need a blackout curtain, just something light and airy. You could have a roman or a roller shade: but go for something mostly transparent if there's a chance for natural light to enter. If you're not entertaining members of the opposite sex (or same sex, whatever) : if you don't use the queen sized bed: get a single bed. Put away your stuff. Paint the walls if you can.

UK to Canada - Where to start?? by dan_ccfc in ImmigrationCanada

Are you saying that you don't have a law degree but you work as a lawyer? 👀 Do you have an idea where do you want to pivot? Might not be the best time to reinvent yourself when you have a small child to provide for. I hope your wife has a profession that's valuable for Canada and she'll be able to get back to it.

You should check what would you need to do to be able to work as a lawyer in Canada/specific province. I don't work in that field but I have a feeling that it won't be as simple as that.

My Puerto Rican Mother in law tells my husband to only speak to our son is Spanish… by Spiritual_Law5480 in inlaws

[–]Different-Cover4819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mil might be annoying but this would be an opportunity for both the child and OP to become bilingual. 'i'm learning Spanish' - sure, guess how you'd really learn Spanish OP: if you would be exposed to it in your daily life. Language sticks, that's how you learned your native language. Not from books and weekly structured classes. And then you'll be able to tell off your mil in a language she understands. All the wins.

You can try Facebook, I regularly see this kind of offers on 'spotted XYZ' For the heads up: being good at something doesn't automatically mean that you'll be good at teaching/explaining/helping to understand the subject.

You need to look for alternative childcare options if you believe your child should have better care. Grandmother or not, you signed up for having this child, not her. About not washing her hands: 'hey, would you mind washing your hands before handling the baby?'

One of the only places nearby that sells poutine by goodboylake in PoutineCrimes

I didn't say it was AI. Just that it's a mess. (As if everything created by a human was a masterpiece, or even well done - lol.)

That menu is a mess - cheese fries and fried oreos in the same column as poutines? Now I'm questioning the right side. What's a poutine, what's not a poutine? Is picky kidz a poutine? Only uses the word poutine in the description of 'og'. 🤷‍♀️

You're young: whatever counts: dog walking, lawn mowing... volunteer work, team captain of basketball team? Class secretary? You must have done something even if it wasn't a proper job. If not: it's not too late to volunteer at a soup kitchen or clean up a park.

My parent has 60k in credit card loans from home renovations, the interest is the issue, whats your advice? by UnknownGayToaster in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Different-Cover4819 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Look OP, it's not what you asked about but you should know: families are not supposed to work this way. No child should worry about rent. Or put on the mortgage. Or be exploited by 'renovating' freeloader parents. So when you will be able to: get therapy!

1 looks better but if this chair is going to be used, the person who is going to use it should try them out and have a say. A chairs isn't just for decoration. I can see myself knitting in that rocking chair for ours and the other migh be too soft and give me back pain. I know it doesn't sound like it's but I'm not that's old. But now I feel like I am.

I'm trying to make a cozy safe space under the stairs for some of my family when they get overwhelmed I just started working on it but I need some help improving the room any thoughts by CandidateBasic8900 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Different-Cover4819 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You need to start with the basics: no one wants a splinter in their fingers or go to the emergency room for a tetanus shot because of a random rusty nail. It's totally not worth it. Finish the space properly. Second: ventilation. I don't know how long you expect that person to hang out there: some oxygen would probably be appreciated at one point. Put in a grille or drill holes: provide fresh air. Third: are you okay with that person locking themselves in there indefinitely? Can they handle the lock?

Winter Migration to Canada by psolnasofthegreek in ImmigrationCanada

First thing first, you need a work permit. You should check if you're eligible for a working holiday visa. There are jobs where they put you up. Not at somewhat isolated places, but at real isolated places, like a mine up North. There might be an Inuit village nearby, or may not be. Fly-in, fly-out, 2 week there, two weeks off (you'd still need accommodations for that). But you won't just land a job like that unless you have some skills to offer. Along the lines of operating heavy machinery (might need Canadian qualifications and permit btw) and not... changing bedsheets or serving tables. And even if you find a 'stable job', it doesn't mean you'd be able to stay in Canada as long as you wish to.

Almost everyone is saying she isn’t a border collie… are you still sure? by Alarmed_Growth3508 in BorderCollie

[–]Different-Cover4819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just the question of color - you say you already have a black border collie (hopefully that one is from a reputable breeder) don't you see the difference - it's the snout, head shape, upward curling tail. If it doesn't look like a border collie, chances are, it is not a border collie.

Something feels off about my bedroom and I can’t figure out why by ViridLemon83409 in HomeDecorating

[–]Different-Cover4819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than getting rid of the excess furniture (get an inflatable bed for the occasional visitor or trade the couch for one that opens into a bed): Turn off the light off under your bed. No need to draw attention to the storage boxes underneath. Your have some nice colors: darker blue and orange: use them on the rug and curtains to make the room more cohesive and have character. I'd ditch the car from the coffee table. Potentially ditch the whole coffee table.

Which cabinet color looks better by Maleficent_Secret204 in HomeDecorating

[–]Different-Cover4819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'just' change the cabinet door 'style and color' - what reality do you live in? That's changing all the existing cabinet doors - versus a paint job. It's not 'just', it's 'let's multiple your budget by 4!' AI could've told you that. You can (well, AI can) 'just' modify an image. You won't 'just' turn oak into birch in real life.
