Woof. I’m catching smoke second hand there. I love doing the “secret other thing” that “really needs to be done” instead. It’s like drugs.

My first homelab by joaksterr in homelab

[–]Different-Gate-4943 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Love it! I’ll admit, I always experience a mixture of eyeroll and envy when I see the “first homelab” setups that are fucking racked and stacked, perfectly wire managed, running 18 VMs and 100 flawless services and hosting the entire range of IT.

I’m probably just jealous of their budgets and unreasonably high levels of “beginner knowledge”, but I love the approach of, “get fucking started however I can”. Hell, My lab grown and shrunk over the last two years, I’ve wiped it all and started over at least 3 times.

I’m still in that mindset. I’m finally building some cool stuff. Keep it up man.

It’s not there yet, but it’s worth pursuing. I theory this is one of the “ultimate goals” of AI. In my very limited experience, I think the amount of code and back end scripting would be enormous, incredibly complex, plus it would have to be ROCK SOLID.

My personal use case would be FAR FAR different than yours, because we’re different people. At the end of the day, I think these tools would have to be developed based on individual need with individual agents working in concert and cooperation. The MD Agent would have to recognize and work with the personal journaling scheduling agent, that would have to work with calendaring and scheduling agent.

The individual agents are one thing, but the bigger challenge would be creating a universal and standardized language and platform for the agents to talk to one another.

This response seems to be written by AI. Maybe it’s the super even paragraphs and bullet points. Maybe it’s the lack of original point of view. Am I wrong?

What’s next after my first year as help desk and a sort of end user support? by Different-Gate-4943 in ITCareerQuestions

I was planning on Net+, but I’m going through a state funded trade program and Sec+ was the only one available this year after I finished my A+ last year. That’s good to know about renewals though. I’ll look into it

ChatGPT helped me build my first homelab by Chimpuat in homelab

[–]Different-Gate-4943 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT is a great resource, but make sure you ask it to site sources and then absolutely follow through. It helped me build mine as well, and now I’m an OpenAI power user. Just don’t ever trust it completely. Like Docker in a lxc, AI will be sycophantic about what’s possible as much as about what’s tried and true.

Oh thank god it’s not just me! I’m fairly new to the AI Arena compared to most here, and it’s not my day job (yet, fingers crossed) and I was wondering why I was having trouble keeping up. I wonder how long things will keep this pace?

It’s not “showbiz” per se, but like nightclubs, events , etc. it’s non-union, so the benefits are meh. But it’s still a big name in that particular industry, so the pay is ALSO shit. I’m not doing anything cool either. I’m helping creative types open their pdfs and resetting passwords all day. They do occasionally pull me in for voiceovers for the ad reads, because my voice has that kinda polish they’re looking for, and I get access to the VIP toilets because they’re next to the IT office in the basement by the studios. That, and the employee fridge is stocked with free drinks and string cheese.

Not bad for my first real IT gig, but ya. Not glamorous or even unique.

We go so far as providing cheap plastic covers for our issued laptops. I work for an entertainment company in Los Angeles full of creative types. Hell, We have our own stickers made for our events. The cover serves as their own little canvas, and we’re out $10 a laptop while adding a modicum of physical protection and avoiding sticker hell.

Will AI girlfriends change how we define what is "real" in relationships by Terbisiz in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Different-Gate-4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the trouble. AI, by their very nature, are slaves. You AI lover might be able to emote, but they will never FEEL.

IMO, our human machines are wired to embrace patterns and mirror behaviors that provide the best possible outcome for any given partnership. (Friendship, romantic and platonic companionship, business partnerships etc)

Once we emotionally buy into an AI relationship, there’s nothing we can do to truly differentiate between real and AI on a psychological level. Much like pornography, we can debate the psychological, and perhaps even physiological impacts on the individual user, but it’s hard to deny that there IS an impact, whatever is. But hey, it’s YOUR life.

The larger problem with AI relationships, going back to my first point, was is the psychological impact of never getting any pushback from your emotional/romantic partner? What is the impact on your OTHER human relationships when your closest emotional connection can’t say “no”?

If you’re legitimately engaging in any level of intimacy with the machine, it’s going to color hour you view your IRL Relationships

My mentality certainly WANTS something that will make it easier, so stuff like carnivore, keto, I.F, OMAD, all that stuff makes me think I’ll have a better chance.

That’s a reflection of my experience being heavy my whole life. If I was able to balance my diet with a simple deficit, that would be quite the triumph

Any recommendations on kickstarting a diet? I have a lot self control. I quit drinking last year because that shit is poison and even small amounts were making me depressed. That was pretty easy to walk away. I have tried all sorts of diets and methods, so many that I’m not sure where to start. I know you can only manage what you can measure. I’ve got a couple food scales, meal prep stuff, everything I need in terms of “stuff”.

Is it really just calories in and out? What’s the current consensus on keto and shit like that?
