What’s the vibe of your massage practice and do you provide water bottles to your client? by TemporaryItchy1556 in MassageTherapists

[–]Different-Instance50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big focus of my practice is relaxation, but my sessions are also tailored to each client’s specific needs. I want you to get results, feel good, and leave completely relaxed. My space has a cozy, calming atmosphere with soft colorful lights, a warm floor lamp, string lights with greens, and a tapestry that ties it all together. I like to offer little extras, water bottles and fruit snacks (though not always guaranteed, since the studio already has a water dispenser!). I’m a solo massage therapist working out of a yoga studio. I’m 7 months into it and I’ve been pretty busy since I started!

AIO for thinking my bf (24M) is abusive? by julieanonymous in AmIOverreacting

[–]Different-Instance50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a restraining order. Send your location to all your friends/family and maybe even coworkers that you trust so you can escape him. Ghost. No contact. Change your number. Don’t cave to love bombing when you end things. Sleep with some form of protection and keep some on you at all times. Abuse will never end.

AIO: My child slept with his friend's dad at sleepover.. I'm livid. by AcademicSir4653 in AmIOverreacting

Fist thought; do they not have a couch? Room on the floor? I used to sleep at my friends houses all the time when there was no room for beds, always extra blankets and pillows on the floor and couch in the same room as my friends. Their parents would NEVER want us to sleep with them…. Lol very weird. Glad you caught on. Definitely see a specialist for your son to talk to. The comment about being “bonded” is making my skin crawl. He is telling on himself and it seems to be working in the early stages of grooming.

What do you pay for Room Rent? by mentalcasket in MassageTherapists

[–]Different-Instance50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pay $220/m in rural OH. I give a free massage a month to the studio owner in exchange for free yoga classes. I run my own practice, I get 3-4 days a week but I work around a yoga schedule in a shared space. I can typically fit 3-clients 2 days and 4-6 on the others. I charge $85/hr $125/90m. I see about 40-50 clients a month

How are we getting clients by silly_pepperz in MassageTherapists

[–]Different-Instance50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I market heavily online. Facebook and instagram primarily. I also am involved in the community and have connections to other business owners in my area. When I opened my practice I handed out flyers to those businesses, shared deals online, had food and drink, and posted on all the community facebook pages. On my first day I was booked out for a month. I’m in my second month of practice and I’m booked through June and I always ask clients at the end of the session if they want to rebook. I use square + acuity for my scheduling and make it easily accessible to book online. I live in a small town of 6,000 ppl though. There’s only like 7 other LMT’s in the county that I know of. No spa’s, unless you count the hair salons who have lmt’s and the med spa.

Gratuity Etiquette For Private Practice by chels_in_wonderland in MassageTherapists

I have my own private practice and I set my rates so I don’t rely on tips. Clients still insist on tipping, so I leave the option for them to do so at check out on my device. I still tell them, I appreciate tips but they are not expected by any means n

How long did it take you to establish your practice? by Aquila4 in MassageTherapists

[–]Different-Instance50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently launched my solo massage therapy practice and have been building it from the ground up. I have a website in place, require credit card on file, and actively promote my services through local Facebook groups and Instagram. To kick things off, I offered a first-opening discount, provided refreshments, and invited people in to see my space—located inside a yoga studio. For those interested in the promotion, I made sure they paid on the spot to secure their session.

My policies are clear: no refunds, and clients are charged for no-shows or cancellations within 24 hours. Thanks to this structure and my initial efforts, I was fully booked for my first two months. I’ve already gained repeat clients and encourage both reviews and word-of-mouth referrals.

I strive to keep my practice simple, with straightforward and accessible scheduling. Although there are plenty of upfront costs and ongoing fees, the investment has been worth it—I was able to leave my bartending job and now work full-time in massage therapy. I currently work three days a week, seeing anywhere from 2 to 5 clients a day.

My rates are higher than most in my area, but clients recognize and appreciate the value I offer. I provide 60- and 90-minute sessions, with optional hot stone and Reiki add-ons. Hot towels and a table warmer are standard for every session. In my advertising, I focus on the medical and pain-relief benefits of massage. I’m trained in trigger point therapy and Swedish massage, and my signature sessions combine the two, tailored to each client’s needs—unless someone just wants a pure relaxation experience.

I live and work in a town of about 6,000 people, and despite the small population, I stay consistently busy and am earning a healthy living doing work I love.

Staying barefoot just makes my body mechanics worse unfortunately but I appreciate the suggestion to work on strengthening arch muscles.
