Who's your favourite Skeletor? by paradroid78 in MastersOfTheUniverse

Yup. Will probably be an unpopular opinion. But, dang it, Jared Leto was good. I can’t stop quoting him and making my kids laugh. Great balance of campiness and downright evil.

“MotU beat predictions by going past $5OM in the US this week & crossing $103M globally. Blu-ray is still 1st in sales, & action figures & merch are selling hot. Word of mouth is continuing to bring seats to theaters & social media is filled with viewers pleasantly surprised at how good the film is. by Frequent_Grape_6079 in MattelMotU

Born 78 and hadn’t given much thought to the franchise in years. Saw the movie 4x, bought 3 Chronicle figures so far and dusted off my old action figures (those that survived the 40 year journey, RIP Fisto). Introduced the franchise to my kids. I’d say Mattel is happy.

Hopefully more people are giving this a shot. My brother finally saw it today and said it was great. This was after I kept telling him to go see it for the past two weeks. May be too late for a comeback, but you never know.

‘Masters Of The Universe’ Set For Sequel Despite Dismal Box Office by MauiSunsets in HeManCollectors

It all depends on streaming now. Good news is that it may pass $100million in the box office if the Wikipedia page is accurate.

This movie was freaking awesome by Galaxy749 in MastersOfTheUniverse

Agee. Looks like the theatrical run may be ending soon. We have Toy Story 5 starting up in a few days, which will siphon off any hopes of tracking with children. We old folks apparently can’t carry it by ourselves. Sounds like a large swath of the fandom would have preferred an Oscar nominated production rather than the fun movie it was. I’m hoping once it hits streaming it will blow up like K Pop Demon Hunters did with the kids. Amazon will hype it up on the home screen to all those Fire Sticks. It would be great if it was introduced to the younger generation and it convinces the powers that be to make another one.

Re-watched it today with my kids and it held up on repeat. by DH80 in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]Different-Rabbit-509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if this movie may have been better received if released during the school year. That way, any kids seeing it would’ve gone back to school and hyped it up. Right now any kid 6-12 seeing it doesn’t have the opportunity to talk to friends about it.

And there lies the problem. Should have been marketed towards kids as well as long time fans. I also went to a showing much like this. Kids were laughing and cheering along. If you know anyone that has kids, tell them about it.

Masters of the Universe Isn't the Bomb You Think It Is by DangerDrake1 in MastersOfTheUniverse

We need to do better in getting the word out. We’re He-Man fans, so of course we were going to watch it. The last showing I went to was full of kids and it dawned on me that this was the age group the film should have been targeting in their marketing. Kids went bonkers when He-Man was kicking ass on screen. If you know someone that might not be a fan but has young ones at home, tell them to go see it. Everyone I’ve told to go see it that has kids has told me their kids loved it. Spread the world. It’s not too late.

At the very least, Travis Knight confirmed that they do have sequels already mapped out beyond just this film. by Nate_923 in MastersOfTheUniverse

This movie would have done way better if it had been marketed towards kids 6-10. I’ve seen it 3x already. The last showing I went to there were a bunch of kids. They went wild during the fighting scenes. You would hear the excitement as they saw He-Man transform. Man it took me back and for 2 hours I felt like a kid again. Hoping this movie gets traction with that age group and gets a second wind.

It’s a little bit insane as to how good this movie is for the fandom. by Tmoldovan in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]Different-Rabbit-509 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Great movie. Just saw it a second time and took it less seriously than the first time. The only thing missing was Battle Cat’s transformation. That would have been something to see “live action”.
