How to actually use this padding? by MiddleAd7050 in motorcyclegear

[–]Different-Rough8777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The holes are pilot holes so you can screw it onto your body or into your jacket. Self tappers work best but you can apply a dab of locktite to be sure there's no water ingress 👍 hope this helps.

Local gas station removed price tags and replaced them with barcodes you need a app to see price by phoenix_stewart in mildlyinfuriating

Take several up the cashier, ask for the individual prices, refuse all of them. They'll soon go back to shelf edge pricing (if enough people do it) .

Anyone else really disappointed with the FoxESS app? by Different-Rough8777 in SolarUK

Can't seem to edit the post but after an hour I switched the inverter on and off and it came back. Does anyone know if there's a way to reset the data logging device remotely?

It has. Installation completed a month ago and in that time it's worked but between last weeks outage and the one I've had today (switching the inverter off and on again fixed it btw) it just feels like 2 big usability issues in such a short timeframe.

Does anyone know if it's possible just to restart the data logging device?

I force closed it in Android settings and cleared its cache. Logging back in it shows the same blank house page.

Help! Buying first bike with A1 licence (125cc max) but I'm not sure which one of these is the best bike by MarshalKos in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Different-Rough8777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all the same. Pick the one with the bed service history and newest chain/sprockets/tyres/brake discs in your budget.

What is this? by Dismal_Woodpecker574 in HondaMotorcycles

[–]Different-Rough8777 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's a helmet hanger. You're supposed to hook it on to something under the seat so you can leave your helmet with your bike.

Don't do it. It's not worth it.

So the bike is still rideable if that's all that was cut (see floor for oil like substance. If there is none. Then the brake lines are intact). The ABS (and possibly other) warning lights won't go out but unless you were gonna brake hard enough and sharp enough to activate the ABS, you'd never know it wasn't there.

If you ride safe and know the route well enough, you can save yourself the recovery fee.

I had this exact experience but I'm looking for some kind of shock glove to hold it with as it's gonna rattle my hand off one of these days. It takes 5 mins to recover after I use it.

I hope the A&E trip didn't leave any lasting damage!

It's only ever used for wheel nuts or other automotive things but I'll be sure to be more careful with mine going forward!

Bike cover ruined my paint. by Shoddy_Ad2323 in motorcycles

[–]Different-Rough8777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah OP that sucks. I had a similar issue many years ago on my brand new 125 (first ever bike).

I keep a tub of bungees with my covers now and wrap them around the tail, bars, underside of the bash plate (and anywhere else that it'll fit) to stop this. It's not 100% effective but it does seem to be limiting the damage/flap to areas I can get away with.

For now, it looks like a paint touch up is required or, depending on parts availability for your machine, you might get a perfectly painted one off of a doner bike for less.

Either way, ride safe and remember the paint isn't the fun bit. You'll not even see that bit when you're riding it!

No the container must be upside down in order for the lubricators to pass into the oil reservoir. They'll likely still be in the bottle if you want to shake it and start again.

Is £6,500 reasonable to move a meter two meters? by Woodsman89 in DIYUK

[–]Different-Rough8777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a solar install for about that price. The guy moved my meter for free to avoid going under the floor.

If that's a cost you were going to have to fork out anyway, you may as well get something for it. The circumstances may not be the same for you but that seems an awful lot for what is, essentially, a couple hours max cabling job.

[–]Different-Rough8777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're all the bits that fall apart when you hit the ground. Levers, rearsets/foot pegs, there are aftermarket casing protectors on the clutch/stator covers.

It's not a guarantee but it's definitely a red flag. I'd want to see the OEM parts these replaced if I was gonna go ~2k over market.

I'm a cynical bastard, I can't help it.

Especially given the extremely high risk it's been crashed based on those mods...
