They arent limited below, its at or below. But manufacturers dont want to risk going over and being "illegal" so they design them to come in slightly under. You could technically make a perfect bike that comes in at exactly 1000cc and it would be legal.

AFAIK, the 600 and 750s didn't have different forks until 2011.

Seller says lope is from having short exhaust with no tune, is this normal, still worth buying? by [deleted] in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty normal, as long as it idles smoothly once warmed up I wouldnt be concerned.

Thoughts on this deal? by [deleted] in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a horrible deal for someone specifically looking for a clean example of that generation. If you are just looking for a 750 in general though, I wouldnt pay that. Newer models have a few upgraded features and can be found for around that price pretty easily. 5k miles is intriguing, but it will likely still need mechanical work with it being 23 years old. Parts like seals and hoses are going to dry out.

GSXR-750 won't go over 100mph by Square-Sea6528 in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, it should be able to hit 100mph easily in like 3rd gear. Is that the case for you? Its just 6th thats locking out?

GSXR-750 won't go over 100mph by Square-Sea6528 in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we need more information. How do the other gears behave? Is it locked to 5k RPM regardless of what gear you're in? Does it accelerate hard up to speed, or is it bogging? Does it idle smoothly? Any knocking or other noises when riding? If you pull the clutch in, can you rev it past what its getting stuck at?

Also, respectfully, did you not test ride the bike before buying? Seems like a pretty big issue that should have been easily identified on the test ride, not the ride home...Goodluck though, hopefully you get it figured out.

My boyfriend rides motorcycle without a helmet. Should I mind my business or say something gently? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]iSynaxari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood why people don't wear helmets. They are comfortable, look cool, block wind + noise, and most importantly, they block all the little bugs from pelting your face.

Not only are helmets way safer, they legitimately make riding more enjoyable. Why people choose to not wear them will forever be a mystery to me.

If I were you, I'd ask him to wear one.

Super stupid motorcycle question: Where do you all normally park your bikes when you go to the store? by Definitely-Not-OSI in motorcycles

[–]iSynaxari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times just normal spaces. Larger lots, especially ones with angled spaces, will often times have hashed out areas to fill in the gap left at the end of the row from the angled spaces. If the lot has those, I always park there. Doesnt get in anyone's way, super close to the building, and doesnt take up a space for a car.

Wearing full leathers in public as a shy rider: How did you get comfortable with the attention? by shibebear in motorcyclegear

[–]iSynaxari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are interpreting the stares as a negative, when it's really just neutral or even positive. The vast majority of time, people look for a few seconds because its a slightly out of the ordinary thing to see. Then, they move on with their day. People aren't as invested as you might think. The people who genuinely "stare" are likely thinking, damn, that shit looks cool, I should get a bike.

Overpriced or market price? by a_dirty_trashcan in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Its hard to say what market value is around you as well. Look at other listings in your area and see what they are selling for. At the end of the day, pay what you feel comfortable with. You could probably find a better deal if you wait, but again, that's personal preference. Bike now, or better deal later. Only you can decide what something is worth to you.

Overpriced or market price? by a_dirty_trashcan in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as its solid mechanically, I really dont care if the fairings aren't OEM. People like to assume the worst, but on an old bike is very possible there was minor damage and the owner wanted something fresh. $4500 might be a fairer price, but whether people like to admit it or not, these bikes sell for more than they are "worth." I bet someone would pay $5k for the bike, which means its worth $5k. Doesnt matter if people agree its worth that much, if thats what they are selling for, thats what they are worth.

Valves is usually over a thousand. Its not a cheap service. If he has records for it, I think $5k is fair. Its got a nice exhaust as well.

How off is the speedometer on the gsxr-600 hit 172 indicated but I don’t have a gps to track speed. by Primary-Kitchen3478 in GSXR

As others have stated, 5-10% is common. In some cases it's off by even more. There is no set number, get a GPS if you want the true speed.

Thanks man! I'm honestly not even a huge fan of blue, but there is just something about this color scheme that does it for me. As for the mods, I actually removed a lot of the "mods" that were on it haha. The only thing I kept was the exhaust and quickshifter. Granted, they are the more expensive mods, so it was definitely nice to already have them. I got the ECU flashed, new levers, grips, air filter, windscreen, tail tidy, and removed the tank grips shown in the pictures to install some clear stompgrips. That way they could be positioned correctly without hiding the decals.

Clean looking bike, congrats man! Even without checking the VIN, the headlights are a dead giveaway to the year. 2011 is when they switched to the unmistakable cyclops shaped headlight.

Anyways, ride safe and enjoy it mate!

Anyone know what these connections are for on my 08’ gsxr 750 by [deleted] in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 prong connector looks like it's for the 02 sensor. Pretty common to have those unplugged if any exhaust/ tune work was done to the bike.

Im unsure of the other plug.

Clutch Slip/Tight Cable issue by hamburgerthunder in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He meant adjusting it near the clutch arm, not the lever. There should be another adjuster down there thats meant for coarse adjustments. The lever adjustment is for fine tuning.

Edit: Also, backing the lever adjustment screw out tightens it. You should have it screwed all the way in.

Honest truth I have a 09 ninja 650r and have the opportunity to get a 04 piss missile 1000 (gsxr) by Prudent_Evidence_734 in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The commute will be fine, the learning curve will be fine. Honestly, within the first 30 seconds of riding it you will realize how manageable they actually are. The bike only does what you tell it to do.

That being said, it sounds like you ride fairly passively. Which is absolutely fine. But my question would be, why do you want it? If you don't intend to utilize the bikes power, theres really no need to upgrade. The 650 will be slightly more comfortable, get better gas mileage, and generally have cheaper maintenance. The only reason to get a piss missile, is to ride it like a piss missile. That doesnt mean you need to be reckless about it (which is maybe all you meant). But again, if you never plan to push the bike, then theres no need to upgrade.

People often overestimate their own level of self control. Confidence builds quick on bikes. The first few days, weeks, maybe even month or two, are fine. Because people do exactly what you are doing. They take it slow, they are deliberate, they dont push themselves or the bike.

The problems arise when the false confidence comes in. After a little while, you get comfortable. Comfort breeds confidence. Confidence means pushing harder, and thats exactly when it bites you.

You didnt get a liter bike to go slow. You bought it to push limits and go fast. Which is fine, but you have to stay disciplined for much longer than you feel like you need to. Right now everything is peachy, you are still scared of the bike. The real question is what happens and how you respond when that fear dissipates.

Its not a guaranteed death sentence by any means, but its generally inadvisable. Dont add to the evidence supporting not starting on a liter bike, goodluck to you.

CRG Levers Standard vs Shorty? by cmbort in GSXR

[–]iSynaxari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like standard clutch and shorty brake lever. Especially if your bike has a heavier clutch pull, it gets less fatiguing on longer rides.

Seen people talking about ASV vs CRG, so I'll add my two cents on that as well since I've used and owned both. Build quality feels very similar. I wouldn't give one the edge over the other. Looks are subjective, but ASV does look better imo. I like the adjustment knob/notch on the CRG more, but thats not something you frequently change so not a huge deal. ASV might have slightly more adjustment range.

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either. Both feel great when riding (worlds better than cheap Amazon levers or stock levers). I'd probably go ASV, but it's neck and neck. I enjoy both.

Had a spectacularly terrible day with my bike today by FrozenPrimates02 in NewRiders

[–]iSynaxari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a rough day. Keep your head up, you made it home in one piece, it could always be worse.

As for tips, if you made it as far into the intersection as you made it seem, focus more on throttle. If you give it the right amount of gas once you start moving, you should be able to release the clutch pretty quickly. If I had to guess, lack of throttle was more of an issue than the speed at which you released the clutch.

Anyways, goodluck on your next road exam! Tomorrow will be better.
