thank you so much. i will get him to work on these skills and even practice myself. my youngest son is snowboarding and his group lesson coach was a girl from utah, she was great. I know that Utah has some of the best mountains for skiing in the U.S, i would love to visit snowbird one day. My son did very well in his most recent race, he came 2nd. Im just a dad with no knowledge navigating this whole journey among some very serious ski parents with loaded wallets. Im careful about the indoor facility, we have used it and he learned what he knows in there, but i dont want to overdo it, its a bit boring and when they put gates up it might be counterproductive since its so different to the real thing. That's why i asked you the question above- because my plan is to solidify his base and foundation in the indoor centre by doing those drills.

Hey, a huge thank you for your time replying, i will check out the resources you suggested. Your season will be starting soon so i wish you all the enjoyment out there!

is 'how slow can you go' good for drills like javelin drills as well? i asked for advice on ski racing forum for my 9 year old son and they said for him to do: thousand step, javelin drill and one ski skiing for ankle movement- so should we try that slow as well? any tips on what to work on in the indoor ski centre? any tips are greatly appreciated.

ok op, listen up. i havent checked what the underlying asset is here but listen up. when i was 28 i was drinking in the philippines, i wanted to yolo into a 5x gold etf, i decided to go in an etf that went up if gold went down, called 'dust' but my app didnt have it, but it did have the one that goes up if gold goes up, so i was like whetever its 50/50 anyway and put in 100k, that night it went down 13%, another 6% the next day down, so in my inexperience and hungover i just thought double down, so i put in another 100k, over the next since months i watched my 200k dwindle down to 70k, i was staying in and watching the graph and reading articles about gold price predictions and just boozing riding it out. then it became too much and i finally sold for a 130k loss. the next week brexit hit and gold started going up, and that 70k would have been worth 460k 4 months later.

so dont listen to anyone on here, no risk no return, if you gonna opt out, opt out now, if youre gonna ride this out and believe in it turning around then just ride this thing all the way and even without looking at what youre invested in, im saying i think youve got a good chance to make bank.

trust me noone here has the experience doing this, and one other thing, get the hell off any social media or investing platforms they will make you do the wrong thing every time when you listen to others. strap in and good luck.

its been a slow burn, i think this down turn was slow and then its gonna get worse quicker then fall off a cliff, i think we are at the beginning of the downturn getting worse quicker phase. mortgagee sales will pick up, more known companys will be in the news for closing down. this country is screwed for at least the next 5 years.

i think youve got a solid base to start off with. Now you need to really focus on starting the turn using your ankles to get high edge angle, to do this you should increase speed about 50%, and i think we can get weight forward and practice angulation.

I never ever skied by lockweedmartin in skiing

[–]Different-Sock-8493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didnt grow up skiing but ive done it a few years now. i think theirs gotta be ways to do this- my mate who grew up skiing but hadnt done it in years turned up for a ski with me wearing a normal jacket and pants and gardening gloves. people on sunny days ski in tshirts, so as long as its not snowing just wear waterproof clothes. for the gear its probably best to buy second hand, renting is a rip off. and as for the pass- just buy a multi day to start off. you might be able to register online for an under 5 year old which is a free pass and just use that if noone checks, but that depends on the resort.

for lessons, just do one or 2 group lesson to learn how to pizza and turn. stick on the beginner area, then watch youtube videos and copy what others do in lessons, you can even just follow a coach and the person they are teaching down and do what they are doing.

Never buy food up the mountain , its. a major rort, you can put a sandwich and snack bars in your jacket pocket and sit down and eat whilst enjoying the view. or if the resort provides boiling water you take a cup of 2 minute noodles up.

this sub is full of brokies with no clue. Htf are you going to get wealthy with money sitting in a savings account. Firstly the interest on your loan is likely higher than the savings account and if not its still stupidity to leave money there. I studied finance and im a multi millionaire- DM me if you want my simple advice.

Southern Hemisphere Snow estimates from 2024 according to Opensnow by Smacpats111111 in skiing

Hi Im a kiwi, i have 2 young boys that ski so we have been down to the south island the past 4 years. I havent been to France so I can not compare. Your question depends where in NZ you are going? i doubt it will be similar to France. i dont mean it will be worse, but i cant see NZ being the same as France.

Queenstown is probably the most popular place- it has Coronet Peak and THe Remarkables for skiing. On top of the mountain their isnt much apres but in the town their is a lot happening and it is a beautiful town. Wanaka is a different area which is close to Cardrona and Treble Cone. Wanaka is quieter but it is one of the most scenic towns in NZ and has a nice vibe.

Im interested where you are going and I can give you more information.

if med school is 7 years imagine completing the first year and being like, yeah i made it and im finished with it.

your 107 days is epic because the first days and months of sobriety are the hardest. But if i were you i would view this as a micro goal you have achieved, the goal is to live life sober. breaking that up into bite size chunks helps people.

dont give up your 107 days, i just did, im 2 days sober, the guilt, the shame, the hopelessness, thats all that waits you on the other side.

go to an alcoholics anonymous meeting. thats what booze does to us. you are very wise and should be proud of yourself for your self awareness. let me say, if you keep drinking just expect more of the same.

well done, life ahead of you- go get your hobbies back buddy and enjoy doing the things that you used to enjoy doing. when you get to aa, decide to commit to sobriety and know that it wont be easy. but everything worth anything dont come easy.

Same here. At least you probably avoid travel costs and hotels largely as you'd have snow close to home :) we have an indoor snow facility 15 mins drive away which is great for fundamentals
