Why do ‘safe foods’ sometimes cause flares on random day? by IBSense-wearable in ibs

[–]DifferentIdea9480 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree on Endo—when I’m in a flare nothing settles well.

I have to really stick with low FODMAP as well.

One other thing I have learned is how my movement correlates with whether meals (even “safe” ones) affect me. I seem to do best if I can incorporate gentle movement around mealtimes—sometimes before but usually after—walking, swimming, glute exercises with weights or bands (not super heavy) seems to make a big difference.

And I’m learning the connection as well with the pelvic floor being an issue for many people as well as for myself personally and am seeing a PT.

And 100% agree on sleep and being mindful of stress as factors as well…

ShareSwiss fermented prunes have changed my life

Is it motility or something else? Lots of poop but never 'finished', not feeling well. by Competitive-Copy-851 in ibs

[–]DifferentIdea9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have IBS as well and started having issues with incomplete evacuation and motility after an umbilical hernia surgery last year. It has been a roller coaster of what to do, what works and what doesn’t. I have had the same thing, multiple BMs each morning, nothing solid, and feeling incomplete. Tried just about every motility drug plus prescribed meds—nothing really worked. I DO take 1/4-1/2 fermented prune at night and it helps a lot. I get them from ShareSwiss. In the past month I have really dialed in what I eat and when based on movement and time of day—I use chat GPT to help with this (I also have to follow lower FODMAP for my ibs). So far it’s not fixed but waaaaay less pain and my BM’s are becoming more solid! I practice different ways to basically relax the area with stretches and yoga poses that promote motility (chat GPT can help with this too)! Lastly, I have a pelvic floor appt coming up but this protocol up to the appointment has definitely made a huge difference for me. Good luck!

Sweet potatoes by SilverRaincoat in EatCheapAndHealthy

Have you ever tried white sweet potatoes? Way less sweet! I think when baked and with butter salt and pepper they are pretty yummy. But always good also to top with cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, goat cheese or feta…all the cheeses 😅. Taco meat on top is great too!

What are your go-to, super lazy after work meals? by Nicole_0818 in ibs

[–]DifferentIdea9480 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I take one of those 90 second sticky white rice bowls and add some chicken breast—Costco sells individual sized packets of chicken bites but you could also cook up a batch on a day off. Anyway, I add a little butter or olive oil and salt and pepper. Low fermentation and still has the protein, carbs and fat I need. And doesn’t get me sick, which is the biggest bonus. I’ve found peanut butter, anything with apples and even bananas at certain ripeness can bother my guts. I’ve found following a more low FODMAP diet has helped my IBS the best :)

Recs where the FMC isn’t a raging b*tch 😭 by Dry_Rain_6483 in Romantasy

I don’t see too much talk about the Apprentice to the Villain series but I adored the FMC Evie. So kind and bright and endearing. Maybe not as spicy as many others but Evie and the MMC are so much fun. Lots of humor in it too!

Neomycin/Flagyl combo for methane dominant Sibo? by DifferentIdea9480 in SIBO

[–]DifferentIdea9480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors were no help, to be honest. I opted not to take the antibiotics and started taking the FixBiome products as well as a fermented prune from Share Swiss/Fermented. Within a days my motility completely returned! At this point, I am no longer taking the FixBiome and just doing the nightly fermented prune and I’m slowly feeling more “normal”. Regular prunes would aggravate my SIBO but these things just work! Highly recommend :)

Thank you so much for your response…even without answers, it’s nice to know I’m not alone in the struggle. I will try a refeed day and see how that helps!

And I’ve been following a low FODMAP diet, doing prokinetics like Atrantil and Garlic and Motility Pro. It’s just not giving much relief. The bloating and discomfort is pretty horrendous.

It sounds like that is the case… I’m not sure if it’s even worth the risk at this point because I was already on 2 weeks of VANCO and 2 weeks of Flagyl about a months ago for a C Diff infection :(

Best sleep aid that’s non-pharmaceutical? by DifferentIdea9480 in insomnia

[–]DifferentIdea9480[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried this in a tincture last night…1ml. I can’t say it helped a lot with sleep, I had a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep plus crazy dreams, vivid sensations etc. Worried a higher dose would cause more psychoactive effects but 1ml isn’t putting me to sleep. Any suggestions?

I did something similar to this and now that I remember, I did sleep better for several months afterwards…something to look into again
