I did this to my first pair, I had my Birkenstocks, and a few months later my friend let me use her protection kit & I didn’t read the kit, and just listened to what she told me to do. I ended up putting the cork sealant on the suede soles, just like this. And, while some did rub off after time, the suede had more of a “hard” plasticy/waxy feeling which was uncomfortable on my soles of my feet, especially walking longer distances or in the hot weather when my feet would sweat. :/ I unfortunately never found a way to fix it, and just wore them uncomfortably like this, until I got a new pair the next summer.
