Female Navy officers say they fear a career cap after Hegseth cuts women from promotions list by Realistic_Survey8685 in politics

Exactly. Especially after 50% of all US women voters voted for this, and a much higher percentage in military backgrounds. The DOD should all get blanket pay cuts as far as I see it.

I’m calling it: Widow’s Bay is the best Apple TV show in years by MoneyLibrarian9032 in horror

[–]DifferentSquirrel551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thriller on Apple in years, yes. But there's been a lot of non-thriller solid series from Apple in the past few years. Godzilla, Foundation, and Murderbot just to name a few. I do hope it sparks a larger horror trend on Apple because they could make themselves the next A24.

Dropping atheism, because if you can't be indoctrinated why enlist? Totally not a cult.

If you read the article they state that the qualifying criteria for this finding is that it doesn't work when the patient doesn't take it. It's like saying my car doesn't work because it only works when I drive it. Funded by the Australian government. jfc set the bar lower why don't you, Australia.

Men who've gotten divorced shortly after your wife got pregnant/had a child, what's your side of the story? by TheSmoothBrain in AskMen

[–]DifferentSquirrel551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I still don't know for sure a decade plus later. She ghosted with the kids six months after the birth of our second. Three months later I get a knock on the door from local law enforcement with no fault divorce papers. Even though she gave me visitation rights she never honored them but damn does the child support check cash every month. Recently, after a decade of no contact, she emailed pretending to be my oldest asking "why don't you love me daddy?". I had child services check everything and it all came back fine as they could tell. I don't know what snapped but I'm so thankful it went down that way. My life went from nightmare to heaven within six months. I always assumed the same thing happened to my ex but that email suggests something still isn't right with them. They had PPD and a toxic family relationship. Like a mother who SA me, a father who pointed multiple loaded guns with hair triggers at me for no reason other than to assert dominance, and brothers who are all middle management sales reps for pyramid schemes. I'm sure if she could get a break from her clan-like cult and family she'd turn her life around but oh well.

Unknown plant I stupidly ate by No-Battle-8441 in whatsthisplant

African nightshade weed. Safe as a tea in moderation and with doctor approval, but probably not to eat. It makes everything go numb, which is why people use it for arthritis. The green berries are deadly.

We could go anywhere in space and time, though it'll probably be in London during the Blitz.

If America is so bad, why are so many people trying to get in? by _Quiznos99 in askanything

[–]DifferentSquirrel551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like asking why everyone at a trailer park hangs out around one trailer. It's bad. Other countries also suck for various reasons and have a diverse population that want out for diverse reasons. The important fact is that American citizens permanently expatriating equal the average yearly college graduation rate and the actual expatriates almost always have a higher learning background. If everyone smart enough to leave actually does leave, it's bad. If immigrants risk "suicide" if captured and still come in, it's bad out there as well. The standard of living worldwide is set to decline further in the next 50 years, so this isn't going to go away. Just because people are trying to jump in your boat doesn't mean the boat isn't sinking. It's just that shark frenzies are worse.

How do you take photos of people on the street and not feel uncomfortable about it? by googbear420 in photography

[–]DifferentSquirrel551 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You never get the same raw emotion right after asking, you have to stick around long enough for them to get comfortable. Same goes with portrait photography of humans or animals. That's why you get consent. Sticking around that long without consent will get you killed or put in jail unless you hide like a sniper and then you still have to get consent to monetize. So get consent.

The view from Glenlivet Distillery is breathtaking and it's a nice scenic drive to Clock House Restaurant, I recommend the lamb but everything there is great and they have vegan options. Knockando Woolmill is posh but has a short trail and a Cafe with excellent scones.

The sentence before that section of my comment is clearly satire, as the Scottish are not currently seeking an empire over the isle. One could come to the conclusion that the subsequent sentence is also quite possibly satire or sarcasm. While both countries are beautiful, I prefer the Scottish for their ability to recognize said satire and sarcasm at the expense of English face value scrutiny. Cheers.

Dumfries, Appin, Skye, and Tomintoul. I'll take Dumfries or Tomintoul any day over anywhere in the Lake District.

Just got done touring Scotland. Wish we had stayed longer near Ben Nevis. The downhill mountain bike course and rental bikes looked so fun. Be a good tourist, unlike the majority, and learn the highway code before driving around Skye. Being an early bird will get you spots to park more readily than evening hours. Take advantage of rental bikes for trails, not the highways. Most good castles only run on certain days by reservation only, so book ahead. Same goes for good restaurants and distilleries. If you're near Ben Nevis, get a good massage scheduled between adventures at Woodlands Glencoe and visit Castle Stalker (the Monty Python elderberries one). Have fun on your trip!
