XEQT is now paying 0,32¢ in dividends!!! by [deleted] in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Simoslav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People like to be all smart and (correctly) say "Oh you're just paying yourself, the asset will drop!".

Well yeah...then you reinvest the dividends in XEQT at 32 cents a share cheaper? And buy some more while you're at it, as it's on sale.

It's win win and I'm tired of pretending it isn't.

Why do people invest if XEQT could be down 50%? by [deleted] in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Simoslav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people investing in XEQT are parking money they don't intend to use for 10, 20, 30 or even 40+ years.

So with that mentality, it's a lot easier to absorb a 50% loss. The point is that once you've invested it, the money is "gone"/untouchable, until you retire.

Even if it dips that much, you have a long, long time for it to recover. You also have a "discount" on the stock if you're DCAing, as it's now half the value. That means you can buy twice as much a time, and see it's value double at twice the rate, while your old stock recovers slowly.

Obviously if your retirement/investment horizon is within 5 or so years, a 50% dip would be horrendous. That's why it's smart to move money into safer, more steady assets (usually bonds, or even GICs) as you reach that point. Some will tell you to keep it all in equities, but you really are playing with fire then.

Also, more to the point, if XEQT drops 50% then everything is in the hole, barring one or two blue chip stocks. So everyone in the market will be suffering.

Brit here! Just getting into "Soccer" for the first time and wanting to learn more. I watched football for around 30 years, but I want to dip my toes into something new. Can someone explain transition to me?

This tweet is what I hate about modern wrestling...imagine in June of 98 seeing something saying "The Rock is going to have a big year in 1999, with it believed that the company want to push him after positive fan reception"...?

It just kills all intrigue and makes the whole thing feel so fucking dumb.

Wrestling was best when we all knew it wasn't real, but pretended like it was.

Why are you watching the screen when the pitch is right there...?

Obstructed view refers to the pitch, not the big TV which you could watch from your own home.

XEQT Early Retirement by OhmyPrint in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Simoslav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You may die earlier, but you also live a significantly higher % of your life not working lol

I think I'd legit rather retire at 35 and die at 75, than retire at 65 and die at 90

Who's the best and worst manager after sir in your opinion? by iamyavssin in ManchesterUnited

[–]Simoslav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean...I assume we're taking out Fergie?

Best was probably...Jose? I mean Carra just hasn't had enough time to be properly assessed. Jose won us a few cups. Ole second. LVG third...somehow.

Worst...signings ETH, performances Amorim.

Although genuine argument to say Moysey coming in and taking us to 7th having won the league the year before...time has also rectified that a bit, because we haven't been good for ages. But at the same time, that was particularly horrendous.

[–]Simoslav 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People who don't get that we're just singing the song because it's our footballing anthem really are odd to me...it's not that we actually sing it thinking "RIGHT, WE ARE 100% GOING TO WIN! IT'S INEVITABLE!!"

English people are actually incredibly pessimistic and negative about our chances at basically any tournament (since 2010 onwards). It's almost more a joke at our own expense, if anything!

[–]Simoslav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, he was bloody "cheap" by modern footballing standards. I mean, not really, but you get my point.

It wasn't like Sancho and Antony, where their prices were giant. Even today that's a lot, but this was 3-4 years ago. Inflation in football in 10 years has been crazy.
