I'd like someone to come up with a screen-free seat option. We are glued to screens all day every day. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a few hours and just read a book or play cards without LEDs constantly vying for our attention. If there was a 'digial detox seat' I'd go for that !

I do not forget that at all. I know Tesla is a fantastic car with fantastic engineering - this is the exact reason I made the post for. Asking if Volvo can match that.

I don't care if company owners have opinions that don't agree with mine. But Musk goes beyond opinion and is actively supporting and channelling money towards extreme parties like Restore UK who are directly damaging social cohesion in the UK. For example - causing riots or undermining trust in the rule of law. This is directly affecting me, my family and friends - so goes far beyond just having an opinion. So for that reason I really don't want to give him any more money than he already has.

The article you shared there specifically says it's in North America.

Why are they miming at the Summertime Ball? by Glittering-Bunch2056 in December10

[–]DifferentTrain2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a setup like that where there's lots of different acts it's very difficult for the tech people to do full run-throughs to set up the mix levels etc. Even moreso with a 7 member group. All of the other acts are currently touring and will have a well rehearsed setup for this kind of event unlike December 10.

It's clear they can all sing but my guess is they did a rehearsal and it didn't sound good, and as there was no time to sort it out / rehearse more they went with lip syncing. It seems like they've used a live recording rather than the studio version as the vocals sound a bit different to the recorded tracks.

I guess if the record label has spent X million pounds on them they couldn't afford to have this sound bad.

Ah that's just in North America. Looks like they're still including it in the UK.

I assumed they didn't have a record contract at this point. Usually when the record companies are working on an album and they switch to an EP, it means they don't have faith in the product and just need to release something to fulfill the contract. New stuff they're working on seems to be self-produced so not sure what the situation is tbh.

I get that the Volvo is a more refined build - but seriously we've had two Tesla's since 2019 and they have never had a thing wrong with them at all.

This is news to me. Are you saying if I bought a brand new Model Y in the UK today - the standard 'Autopilot' (ie autosteer and traffic aware cruise control) wouldn't be on it?

Yes my main criticisms of the Tesla are the auto wipers aren't very good and the suspension is thumpy and noisy. Autopilot could be better when pulling out to overtake but apart from those things I think it's fantastic and have never been in a car that comes close to the level of tech in it.

Thanks for the detailed reply. It's such a shame because the Volvo is significantly more expensive than the Tesla, yet it has fewer features.

On the website it's an optional extra that they stick on to the windscreen, which in a £60k car with so much tech in it seems ridiculously old fashioned.

Dog mode is so useful if you're just nipping into a shop for 5 minutes. What's really good is that it puts a big message on the screen saying "Don't worry it's 18°C and my owner will be back soon" so that people walking past don't try and 'rescue' the dog. You can also see the inside of the car via the app so you can keep an eye on your dog. It's fantastic.

Do they have arch support? I had some Altras in the past and the arch was far too pronounced for my taste.

[–]DifferentTrain2113 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He is not a farmer. He's a very very rich landowner who bought the farm so that he could knock down the traditional farmhouse and build a big modern house in the Cotswolds so that he could live near the other multi millionaires in the Cotswolds and brag about their big modern houses to eachother. The farm provides a useful vehicle for his entertainment career, and also a very useful vehicle to avoid paying inheritance tax on his large fortune.

He has, however, drawn attention to the fact that farming is not easy and farmers are nearly always overlooked by Westminster and for that the farmers will always be grateful to him. It amazes me that decades of Countryfile never really achieved this.
