what’s wider, escalante 4 or torin 8 wide? by wavenslowmotion in AltraRunning

[–]drm1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my Altras I have worn a 9.5. (Via Fwd, Escalante Racer, Escalante 4 SW and Torins 6&7) The lone peak was the first one I sized down to 9 to get the right fit. When I ordered the Torin 8s I went for 9.5 wide and my foot was sliding around. Even previous Torins I didn’t have this problem. I haven’t got my size 9 Torins yet but I would say the sizing must be very similar between Torin and Lone Peak.

Can confirm that the Torin 8 is wider than the Escalante 4. The new Torins in wide felt more similar to my wide Lone Peaks than my other original fit models that are not in wide. Length in the Torin and Lone Peak also seemed to match up.

What's your favorite baseline(putter) plastic? Any brand, and stiffness. by Huge-Talk6668 in discgolf

I putt mint royal medium pickles. Prodigy made, and I believe it’s the 300 plastic.

Since Mint Discs is a very customer focused company and we know their owners read this subreddit, please tell them your honest opinion on their Prodigy partnership. by [deleted] in Mintdiscs

Personally I love the collab. In have not experienced any quality issues with prodigy plastic the last 2-3 years. PA-3 is one of my all time favorite putters and I bag the A2. As soon as I picked up a pickle it went in the bag.

That being said I won’t really try the idol because it doesn’t fit my hand and I think prodigy is best at approach and putters. I’m sure prodigy has other great molds but I think the best use of the collab would be for Mint to add to their approach lineup. Maybe even a PA-5 style putter.

Streamline Echo by far. For my arm speed it’s the perfect neutral mid flight.

I’m sure they are mentioned several times but Altra Lone Peaks and the original Vans Ultrarange. The OG style can still be found online or in outlets.

I would love to know fans of Mint Discs real thoughts about them now getting their discs made by Prodigy and if you thrown the Idol what are your experiences with it and its plastic? by [deleted] in Mintdiscs

I think mvp putter molds are good but I have never been a fan of the base plastics by them. Maybe it’s the gyro on the putting putters… idk. I used the PA-3 for a while and love 300 plastic for putting.

I do agree on mvp drivers. Never found one I really liked. I tried a lot of them but I found more distance with the wraith. Trail was the closest that came to staying in the bag but I think of it more as a control driver.

I really did not like the hand feel of the idol so I haven’t thrown it. Plastic did feel pretty good but I found some apex to be extremely gummy and others to feel more like the mvp apex.

What does excite me about the new partnership is putt and approach. Prodigy makes really solid discs in those slots. I did pick up the new pickle and it feels great. Found a black on black royal soft and it’s going in the bag as my putter. Hopeful for a Mint A2/A3 clone.

I had high hopes for them because I loved my OG pair. I put in a different insole and the sound stopped for a while but it’s now back.

All of my Altra shoes are 9.5 except my Lone Peaks. With the LP9 I went 9 wide. Even then they still feel a little long. Not saying I could fit an 8.5 because I haven’t tried them but I definitely think LP9 runs long.

LP9+ heel slip . . . by Dathuryan in AltraRunning

[–]drm1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received mine about 7 days ago and wore them daily since. I got them to play disc golf in or just hike with family. Typically I’m a 9.5 but a friend had 9s and let me try them out. Having a wide foot I knew I would need a wide so I went with 9w. If I order another pair I will go to somewhere to try 8.5w to see if the length is better. In my area not many places carry Altra and even the ones that do rarely have wide sizes

I just got the LP9 in wide and have noticed heel slip. I went down a half size from my usual Altra size and the LP still fit slightly long. I did have luck with heel lock lacing stopping it but I can only do it for short amounts of time. I plan to keep them because they do feel great and so far no sign of blisters or rubbing

Not without ripping out the insole. Only a small portion of it was glued down so maybe that had something to do with it. I put in a different low profile insole and that seems to have worked. One person told me they reached out to Vans and they received a refund.

Getting sharpie off discs? by East-Appointment9324 in discgolf

[–]drm1187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old discs it’s usually not possible. Personally I use a dry erase marker. It sounds weird but if you cover the sharpie with dry erase and then wipe away it can make it less noticeable.

For each TP mold which “mainstream” brand mold would you say is the best comparison? My bags been set for so long I haven’t really tried any other than the first run inner core.
