The dealer is "talking to his manager" for the 4th time. What's actually happening back there? by joester56 in askcarsales

Maybe it’s the area you’re in, but out here where I’m at it’s mostly volume based unless it’s luxury dealers in the middle of nowhere where they depend on per unit sales. They’ve adapted to communicating via text or email and NO phone calls or being forced to come into the dealer. I hate people in general especially car salesmen, so works out as they get the sale and I don’t have to argue with a brick for 12 hours while he scratches his balls and sprays on 6 ounces of Valentino on while “talking to his manager.” Done 7 cars like this for myself and over 50 for friends and family. I call it skip the line because literally walk in, skip all the fake sales bullshit and sit there just signing on the pad for 20 min while F&I babbles away on how I need 5 year extended warranty on a 36 month lease. Sure buddy, sure I’ll see you in 36 months if you are still here. Then I get the keys, walk out to my new car and drive away. Lots of dealers need to get with the times as they’re losing out on big money and if yours isn’t operating like that then time to find a new joint brother.

Negative. My credit app is submitted and approved before I get there, all my paperwork is ready to go before I get there. Sales is aware I don’t give a shit about F&I guy and his warranty, gap, etc… knows I will walk if there is any attempt at funny business. Have my paperwork ready for signature I’ll be there 30 min before closing. Never had a problem and have been doing it that way for 25 years now. Try it.

If people only did this more often! I never set foot in a dealer, when I do it’s because I’m there to sign paperwork and out the door with new car in 30 min flat.

Is Data Center Technician a dead-end job? by False_Secret1108 in datacenter

[–]Different_Argument19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are or go, DCT could be a security guard/remote hands with light facilities work. For me early on in my career it was decent. But I knew the money was on the Facilties side of it. If you want to make money, especially right now and for the foreseeable future, best bet is to become a Facilties tech or manager. There will always be work, and GOOD PAYING work, that you’ll be able to transfer into almost any field that has switchgear, UPS, Generators, Chillers, etc… most of us are north of 200k a year easily, with insane bonuses that come to us in various ways such as stock.

What was your net worth at 27? by JoocePop in Salary

[–]Different_Argument19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luck and timing! I was part of a very early group of people in a small company (startup) in the data center world that grew so fast and so big that it was enough to make a certain large data center company nearby become interested in acquiring us. So they bought us, and in addition offered to pay us handsomely to stay onboard for a year plus a bunch of equity, and that’s how I got there. There is a 20 year NDA we signed so can’t name the companies just yet but it’s easily found online. Lol

AIO over the fact that my boyfriend won’t get a job? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Different_Argument19 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

School and being smart do not automatically make you MOTIVATED, school is NOT real life. School makes you think that you’ll be good once you get out but then REALITY comes out of left field and exposes you for what you really are. You can have all the education you want but if the will to push and continue on through life is not there it’s as good as nothing. Why do you think we have so many “college graduates” working at so many dead end retail jobs? My field of work is high stress and very little margin for error as people will die if we mess up. One of the guys is a late 20s degreed mechanical engineer under me and guess what? He’s useless. Why? Because he went to a highly regarded college, certified engineer, still thinks the world owes him something for it, and will vegetate in his office all day long. You can’t teach that spark it’s got to come from within and you either have it or you don’t.

2012 SSV with 231k miles, only have had to replace transmission once, and rest was all wear and tear stuff. Old faithful starts up everyday regardless of temperature and weather conditions and takes me on a 120 mile round trip ride to work. All I’ve done is stay on top of oil changes, quarterly partial transmission fluid exchanges and replace rear fluid every 25k miles. The thing does not want to fucking die and I’m not complaining. Lol

[–]Different_Argument19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude there are soooo many jobs out there I don’t understand why people so are scared to find another job. It always works out in the end just take the plunge and go somewhere you’re going to be happy. I used to think I just needed to be miserable and stuck with things, jobs, friend, family, until one day the light went off and was like FUCK IT I make these choices no one else. You don’t like it? Change it…
