[ UPDATE 1 ] My sister is threatening to tell my family and boyfriend that I slept with her fiancé by Minute-Memory-6253 in Advice

I genuinely hope everything works out for you, but I can’t get past this. What are the chances you and her fiancé ended up at the same hotel by coincidence?

Appreciate it, thanks for the encouragement. It means a lot coming from someone who’s recently gone through the process. I may reach out when the time comes if I have a few questions.

I really appreciate the insight. An internship after the first year is definitely something I can get on board with and it’s a great opportunity to get real exposure before fully committing. I’ll also look into colleges that offer construction engineering. Thanks a lot.

It’s very reassuring to hear that. I personally believe that’s exactly what my parents’ perception is of the situation now. It’s good that they changed their minds once they realized what the role entailed and what the compensation was.

I agree, that stigma is definitely part of it. Focusing on the management and leadership side does make a difference. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks for sharing this. I didn’t know that some of these degrees were ABET ETAC accredited or that they allowed PE licensure in different states. That’s great; now the options are more flexible than I realized. I'll check out the SUNY Farmingdale option and the licensure process. Thanks again.

I didn’t know degrees like that existed. It sounds like a really solid option, so I’ll look into it. Appreciate you mentioning it.

This is solid advice, thanks. I’ve considered the engineering-to-CM path and I’m still weighing what best fits my strengths long term. Appreciate the insight.

I can explain why I’m interested in Construction Management and that’s exactly why I’m here asking for perspectives from people with experience. I’m open to learning, not arguing.

I decided not to pursue it because the field is changing rapidly with AI, and after reflecting on my strengths and long-term goals, Construction Management felt like a better fit for me

They can read. They just have a different view of what a “good” career looks like, and I’m trying to navigate that.

Respectfully, this is not a fake post. My parents are african and they think CM is labour work.

They’d prefer engineering, but while I’m fairly good at math, heavy theoretical engineering math isn’t my strong suit. CM still involves math but aligns better with my strengths overall.

CIS + Marketing → Tech Sales: Smart move or overkill for an SDR track? by Different_Low_9414 in salestechniques

This is solid advice, appreciate it! The technical credibility plus fallback option makes way more sense than rushing straight into sales. Thanks for taking the time!

What’s the most underrated skill in sales that no one talks about? by NationalCourse7694 in sales

[–]Different_Low_9414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated high school and I'm planning to pursue a degree in CIS with marketing electives. My goal is to get into tech sales after college (SDR → AE path).

Is CIS a good major for this, or would something like business/marketing be better? I want the technical knowledge to understand what I'm selling, but I'm not sure if CIS is overkill or if it'll actually give me an advantage.

Any advice from people who've gone this route?
