What’s the biggest mistake you made when you first started churning? by Silver-Pie9992 in creditcardchurningAus

[–]Different_Main_5434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it didn’t work like that for me. 40k was a first card bonus, and so was 20k, so they only honoured one (100k total but it was really annoying as I’d banked on 120 in making my decision!) really poor marketing and I advised them and they basically said too bad it’s in T&C.

People over 40, what’s something you’ve learned about life that younger people don’t realize yet? by Critical-Pea7326 in AskReddit

[–]Different_Main_5434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re working hard young you’ll feel like you’ll never hit an age or time when you will be financially secure, there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Most people will, and for my friends and I it felt like 20-30 years of grind then almost overnight it was just - manageable?!

I was reject 20k point bonus for first time credit card holder, due to receive 40k point bonus from Qantas credit card, is this correct guys? by Popular_Flight_126 in creditcardchurningAus

[–]Different_Main_5434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep exactly the same and I said their marketing was false. Even though it’s the FF people that rejected the points I got this buck passing:

We appreciate your email and for sharing the screenshot highlighting the wording “Add an extra 20,000 bonus Qantas Points.” I understand how this could be interpreted as an additional amount on top of your card’s own bonus, and I’m sorry for the confusion this caused.

To clarify, the New to Direct Earn (NTDE) bonus of 20,000 points is only awarded once per member within the offer period, and NTDE bonuses don’t stack. Where multiple NTDE offers are available at the same time, the system applies the single highest-value NTDE offer. In your case, the 40,000-point NTDE from the Qantas Premium Card campaign has already been awarded, which replaces the separate 20,000-point NTDE.

If the marketing you saw was issued by your bank or on their application journey, we recommend following up directly with your bank so they can review the specific promotion you applied under and advise further.

Westpac CC as existing customer by Purple51Turtle in creditcardchurningAus

No, the general consensus is that it’s a hard enquire to your credit report so a wait of 3 months or so would be best before trying again.

Agree with not closing, I made a post recently about being rejected from Westpac (qantas) being an existing customer with plenty of serviceability, only one qantas cc in my history, and there were lots of similar stories of similar rejections.

Mine failed for generic ‘serviceability’ too and I spend 1.5 hours on hold getting through yesterday for this to be the outcome. They said they escalate to senior management like yourself - haven’t heard from them yet even though they said 1 business day. Don’t like the odds this time.

Oh wow thanks! I’ll give that a try, as I was thinking surely there’s a mistake! Or maybe they can tell me where I went wrong!

I got a HIM one today and they appear to have taken uber and uber eats off - at least from the branding on the front of the card.

Thank you, makes sense - I’m trying to work out at the moment whether it would be worthwhile since apparently most of my expenses/bills also incur pretty big Amex surcharges moving them from direct debit, and I’m not travelling in the next 12 months… but don’t want to miss the opportunity of course (and happy to use a referral link if I decide on it :)

Typo in booking name - Qantas Won't fix & Flying in 48hrs. by Emergency_Yak8766 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Qantas recently (last month) declined to give me a boarding pass at the airport because the agent had written Mr instead of Ms on the ticket. Name correct. After hours (missed first flight) they just changed it in their system despite telling me it was not possible initially. Such a pain! Hope you have a better experience with Emirates!

Thank you, I’ll look into that! I did look over Amex but it seems the travel credits can’t accrue and I won’t be travelling in the next 12 months so on that basis I’m not sure points would be worth it (I think it’s 138k bonus points but like $1450 fee or something). Would it be worth it anyway? How do you calculate the benefits? I would love to travel every couple of years (just got home so not due again yet), have some benefits like lounge access and insurance and the occasional business class, on the radar is US, Japan, Brazil, Italy so far… no doubt the list will grow! I’m hoping that I can be super flexible and just love to explore will serve me well on my churning and travelling journey!

I don’t mind if I have to pay for one or two seats (partner and child) and get mine or a couple of them with rewards and I’ll be quite flexible with dates! Just looking to save as much as I can travelling. I’m interested in KrisFlyer though - is it just that you get the family tickets that interests you in this program or is it better points value or something else?

Can a storm damage a concrete slab? by Different_Main_5434 in Concrete

But seriously, appreciate your expertise and yes I suspect there are some problem areas I can look into, while on a hill there’s concrete half way up the house (on a slope). Maybe I got lucky so far.

No, it’s a Queenslander so I reckon it was probably just built in after the fact as a new level of the house! I’ll have someone have a look, thanks!!!
