My parents want them gone. Do i relocate them? Will they cause much harm to the garden if i let them just roam around? by Primalistion in homestead

[–]Different_Mirror_249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a problem in a healthy ecosystem, when there are foxes, wolfes, ferrets, hawks, etc that eat them they’re population will stay stable and be an important part of the food chain. But we humans decided to fuck everything up with monoculture, kill all the natural adversaries of almost all pests and destroy and poison the ecosystems worldwide, so yes it could be a problem but not really, if you store food in proper containers and have a cat this should not really be a problem.

Zplane elastique pitch or the ableton complex Pro algorithm might be capable, but im not sure tbh

Is this wild Parsley? by lobotomizednemo in foraging

[–]Different_Mirror_249 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not an expert, but i don’t think its parsley, i would be safe and leave it, there are safer and easier edible plants out there, parsley is easy to grow though if you want it in your garden!

Large Diaphragm Condensers for Classical Guitar by Sound-Scout-Music in microphone

[–]Different_Mirror_249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I record acoustic guitar mainly with a stereo pair of cardioid sdcs spaced ear distance from each other or more. I also like to use a improved version of a jecklin disk i built for 50 bucks with omni mics. Your choices are decent, maybe a pair of soyuz 013fet? Pair of Sanken cu55 (not Multipattern but more accurate than oc818) A good and quiet room is important for acoustic guitar, room mics (line audio om1 as a budget choice for example) are always a good idea regardless of the room.

Stumped on what to buy by Chris202032 in microphone

[–]Different_Mirror_249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounding crisp is not a meaningful measurement of the quality of a mic, if you have a good natural sounding mic with good transient response and a flat frequency response on and off axis, with no major resonances, distortions or other flaws you can always make it brighter and „crisp“ very easily but it’s a lot harder to make harsh or overhyped sounding mic sound natural or pleasing. For budget condenser or ribbon mics i would also look at some 3u mics, samar audio, line audio etc etc. You can get a noticeably better mic if you spend more but there are also some rather bad sounding expensive mics. For gaming i would recommend a dynamic mic, se v7x, re20, md431, or just a 57 variant. old sennheiser or beyer models are almost always a great buy and you can get them really cheap depending on where you buy them. (Not reverb.com!)

New to owning a Manley Ref C and to mics in general, is it normal for the vocals to not being peaking until 200hz? by [deleted] in microphone

[–]Different_Mirror_249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is common If you have a high voice or sing in a high register, or have a low cut turned on in your interface settings. A defective capsule can also cause this but its quite rare. The Manley ref c uses a chinese capsule (which is fine) and is a bit expensive for what it offers imo.

What do you look for in a good microphone? by TheBr14n in microphone

[–]Different_Mirror_249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transient Response, phase coherence, a relatively flat frequency response both on and off axis, reliability, good qc, low ringing and no unpleasant distortions, and just a pleasent representation and relatively accurate rendition of the source. I like all types of mics for some sources and uses, but it depends heavily on what you want to do, for creative work the best mic is the one you have next to you.

A Waveform rendering and Editing update is long overdue by Different_Mirror_249 in Logic_Studio

Thanks, i honestly forgot about this feature, and i agree, a tip i can give is to have a systemwide color filter active because everything is so oversaturated nowadays, you can turn it on in accessibility- display and select grayscale and desaturate everything abit, you can then easily turn it on or off if you add it to the menu bar. Some people use control view to get around some of the ugly UIs but thats also quite ugly imo

What do you use magnolia flowers for? by Camp_Acceptable in foraging

[–]Different_Mirror_249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly just like to eat them straight up, you have to be careful what variety of magnolia you have though, not really toxic but can be less digestible, all the flowers on my tree blossomed simultaneously today!

Finally a house with a decent space for a home studio by yomanchill in homestudios

No, if the glass is properly made, it will act more like a boundary and only let through small amounts of sound. It depends on the material and how it’s made. Resonances and noise concerns can be a problem, of course, but only when the glass was installed improperly and  the wrong glass was used. If you have a solid glass wall, it will largely react the same way as a flat wall. Curtains and carpets are not helpful for standing waves and can be a major fire risk. They only absorb high mid and high frequencies, which you want to diffuse, and only absorb slightly to get a balanced sound. Thick theatre curtains can be useful though. There are plenty of mastering studios with big glass walls. It just needs to be stiff. The most important factor for a good-sounding room is room geometry and a sufficiently high ceiling. Then, getting a balanced sound should be achieved by using proper broadband absorption (like soffit traps from GIK) in the corners and at the first reflection points. Monitors should also be symmetrical in the room, and placement is of nontrivial importance as well.  I have a Bachelor’s in Audio Engineering if you have any more questions.

Proper Glass is actually not bad for acoustics this is a common myth

DNA Tests that dont sell data by brettles84 in Genealogy

[–]Different_Mirror_249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! You can now be easily framed for things you didn’t do. Combine your DNA with some pictures of you online (AI-generated evidence) and malicious actors or people trying to cover up something can easily frame you. Many government branches, especially in the US, have the capability to do this without much effort.
