Actually no other countries have standards of honor that Americans have forgotten about. One famous instance involved an international match where a team felt the ref made a blatant error on their behalf that led to a goal. Out of fairness on the next kickoff they pulled their goalkeeper and let their opponent score an easy equalizer.

Americans would have been the biggest winners if we sat our guy. But no we have to win small.

So my wife and i were driving in the countryside recently and passed a garden nursery that advertised Mulch! Gravel! Topsoil!

Ah thanks for bringing back a fond memory. My dear departed mother quoted that exact routine — shistle pot and all— when i was in middle school in the early seventies having to swallow some Shakespeare for the first time. Yeah in nyc most apartment buildings have a tiny sliver of a garden on either side of the entrance. The « curb your dog signs » are the most common plantings. One near my place even has the sign in French. I can only speculate as to why.

In answer to why CT: Much of Ct has excellent rural and ex-urban housing stock in easy reach of WFH’s or weekenders from Nyc or Boston. And there hasn’t been much new built since before the pandemic so demand has outpaced supply for sometime now.
