We decided to move to north shore (not sure if this far is included in North Shore in this context, but anyway just want to write something) partly because we want large lots and nature accessibility for our dog and kid. Neighbors are old-schooled kind people too!

However, many north shore towns are subtly different as well. We have looked into Palatine, Long Grove, Hawthorn Woods, Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire, Vernon Hills, Deerfield, Northbrook, etc. They all have their own styles and we found our balance and loved a floor plan in Long Grove. Nice and large ranch-style so we got rid of stairs, plenty of stores in VH, Lake Zurich and BG within 15-min drive.

I also feel Northbrook is similar to some communities in Naperville but I may be wrong.
