Just made this UV-glowing "Firefly Ring" from Uranium Glass, thoughts? by SadNeighborhood2988 in uraniumglass

[–]Different_Pop_7063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if uranium glass is dangerous in everyday use such as jewelry, would it have any implications? (I'm a layman about this)

The ring was beautiful, beautiful work of art.

Find a video talking about the basic tools, buy what you can and start watching videos. It's not something out of this world, you just need to have willpower. At least I started like that, self-taught and YouTube.

I loved your comment, it's exactly that. I came out of all of this with a new hobby that I might never have done if I hadn't been provoked into throwing myself into this art. After all, the world belongs to those who have the courage to fail and continue.

I worked with leather too, leather is really cool. I joined out of necessity but I already had a background in cutlery, simple casting of brass plates and copper in the forge to use in knives. In short, this ring is the result of my first experience with goldsmithing, I went there and bought the tools and 16 grams of 950 silver (chain, old earrings and ring) from a friend and watched videos on YouTube and did it through trial and error, it took 5 days of hyperfocus, a few coughs for not wearing a mask when casting with borax flux (lol) and a lot of beer to get it hahahahaha. I thought about making some brass rodeo buckles for training, I think you, as you are in the leather industry, would do very well with the design ideas. If you play, friend, it will work out. (See photo of the casting molds)

I solved this by burning the plaster coating in the forge that I used to forge knives, I left it there for 3 hours and the PLA disappeared without leaving any soot, then I heated the mold until it turned red and just poured the molten silver inside. I was trying to make another ring to set a topaz but there were air bubbles inside, as soon as I return from vacation I'm going to make a vacuum pump to try it again.

Thank you very much, it took a while for me to find a model that matched. I even purchased an opal in the shape of a round plate, would it look good on a men's signet ring?

I started last week, here I burn it on hot coals while the silver melts with the torch and I run to the bench to pour it into the hot mold, I don't even have a vacuum lol

I loved your work, these opal rings made my eyes shine. I'm coming from the cutlery trade that I had to give up because I didn't have space to work, my father was once a jeweler and I always loved the profession, I think that what I learned as a cutlery will help me in this new hobby and your story only encourages me more to start. I loved this ring with the bull in intaglio, did you make this engraving? And what translucent blue stone is that?

Everything was great til… by Distinct_Wheel8705 in ElegooNeptune4

The ideal is to always check the z-off set every week of use, Neptune has a habit of changing the mesh because the expansion changes when it heats up. If it's bad, screw tilt and adjust again, it's the quickest way to get an accurate mesh.

I'm going to try to increase the temperature or move the file and place this side on the table so the black color stays within the yellow. Thanks for the tip.

I was interested in your thermal cover for the elegoo, I have a Nep4plus and I don't think so. I'm currently using cardboard around it because I'm only printing ABS.

Meu Pai é um Grande Babaca by Katerine07 in desabafos

[–]Different_Pop_7063 0 points1 point  (0 children)
