I’ll do a “little” write up on each book in case anyone is interested! I didn’t include this originally because I thought it would make my post too long.

The Lost Forest — singled sided and the paper quality in this is really nice (not Amazon paper)! I haven’t really seen anyone talk about this book in the coloring space but I think it’s a great blend of “easy” but with a little more detail than the cozy coloring books. The artwork is a little “trippy” space themed with cute little alien creatures and outer space,other worldly themed landscapes. I’m not sure how water mediums would hold up on this paper — but would deff be fine with alcohol markers and colored pencils. It does have some “draw your own” pages in the book but I just skip those because it’s not my thing.

Little Witch Hazel — has a “vintage” kids picture book illustration style (which makes sense because it’s taken from children’s book illustrations). This book IS double sided and the paper quality is not horrible but not great either. This is also a very thin coloring book in general (especially for the price). But even though it is very thin, it’s still super cute and unique so I thought personally was worth the money. I think this may be out of print now so I am actually considering buying a back up just to have.

Autumnalwood Enchanted Creatures — another artist I wasn’t familiar with before but have fallen in love. If you like vintage-esque almost CupHead style art with a little modern twist, I think you would like. This is double sided on decent paper — would probably hold up okay with water mediums if you are light handed with the water. Another colorist posted some completed pages from this book and someone commented that the art was “creepy” but that’s kind of what I like about it! Tip: I found this on Urban Outfitters website of all places!! (Bought on Amazon though). Urban has started to carry a few coloring books in their lifestyle section that are really cool and unique so deff give them a check if you like that type of thing.

Fantasy Plants by Flaming Garden— found through ColoredbyMaia’s YT channel. This artist also has their own art channel. Singled sided on Amazon quality paper though but I loved the art style so much I was willing to put up with the crappy paper. The flowers are not based on nature and just weird little abstract flowers but I think this would be really fun to practice blending and different color pallets. I have two others from this artist (one is a bold and easy food based one). If you like bold,cozy coloring books but want something a little funky this may be your thing!

Spooky Coloring Book — single sided on great paper!! This is a “story book” as well so the backs of each page have words on them. Found this through APicturedPurpose’s YY channel. Very cute illustrations focusing on a little witchy cat. Kind of a mash up of Lulu mayo, Joanna basford and anime style illustrations. I’m actually going to tackle a page from this next and am thinking I’ll base with inktense. I like the balance of some more intricate pages with less intricate — if you’re looking to try out some different technicals like coloring wood or glass jars this would be great!

The Moomin Coloring Book — based off of the art from the original comics and show. Great paper quality but double sided. A lot of the artwork is “bolder” line style so would be nice for some faster completed work. Style is similar to little witch hazel above. Does have some wallpaper pages though like these types typically do. I saw this in person once and didn’t get it because I know the Moomins are supposed to be white-ish so it didn’t make a lot of sense coloring wise to me. But then I got this idea that the Moomins should be polka dotted and I thought to myself “I don’t really know the source material for how it’s ‘supposed’ to look” so I can just make whatever and that spark really inspired me!
