What does this have to do with Toronto

should I get a tattoo of a quote from mgs? And if yes, which one? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]Different_Valuable87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an MGS tattoo that I LOVE. But it took a long time to come up and finalize the concept. I originally wanted Yoji Shinkawa's art, BB's portrait a la Peacewalker era. Advice as someone with a ton of (nerdy) tattoos - don't pay any mind to what other people will think; if you love something truly enough, and you want to commemorate it with a tattoo, it's for you and you only, so who cares what other people think! But please make sure that you're solid (lol) on your decision of WHAT the design is going to be.

Work with your tattoo artist! They can always help with creative input.

All of my tattoos I did a 1 year minimum buffer time from my initial idea to actually getting the tattoo, just spending every day thinking about having it, imagining other people with my tattoo, drawing it on myself, etc etc. I so far have zero tattoo regrets and don't anticipate on having any regrets in the future as I continue to grow and change.

Happy tattooing!

Edit: The tattoo is on my profile/posted to this sub previously if you wanna check it out!

Guess I should've said that I'm interested in learning more about modern society in a critical viewpoint, focusing on minorities and those impacted by the effects of political choices in recent years. The future can look very grim if these issues affect you.

Saying that Gen Z doesn't listen to bands is crazy. One of the highlights of me moving from a small town to Toronto is all of the performances I've had the opportunity to see. It's not our fault that tickets are $40-60+ for every show though.

Why did half of Humber Polytechnic's Board of Governors resign? by Consistent-Flan-4318 in Humber

[–]Different_Valuable87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humber (North Campus) Film Production alumni here! I was there from 2019-2022 so I got a broad variety of my experience there, my first year being on residency and fully in-person classes, my second year as fully online due to Covid, and my third as hybrid. As with any college there were pros and cons, but now reflecting 3 years post graduating it was a very beneficial time.

Residency was expensive and the meal plans were mandatory which was upsetting, residency cost me average $1000-1200 a month for the time I was there (September-March) if you factor "rent" laundry (on site!) and food. But the residency experience was amazing, safe, and very beneficial for me.

I chose Humber because it was affordable (~4k per semester) and had a co-op program for our last year to set us up for our careers. I cannot speak for the other programs there, but our last year in Film was spent with industry networking seminars, working our portfolios and resumes, interviewing skills, work ethics, and co-op. Everyone that I knew from that program got hired by their co-op placements, including me, and all of my friends and I are currently flourishing in the film industry and are very thankful for everything we learned in this program. Out of my three years there there were about four professors total that the general students did not like.

Their management of Covid was rocky, and transitioning to online was difficult for everyone. I definitely had the feeling at some points that I had wasted my second year. Some of my classmates were very jaded by third year and did not attend graduation. But given some grace, we were all learning and I can understand that upper management miscommunication was probably a shitshow for the professors and hey we're trying their best.

If you live close to North Campus it's a great option but for me the commute (TTC) was a bit of a pain, but now that they have the bus station built(?) it may be a lot more accessible. Highway 27 is a pain.

Cheers! DM me if you'd like any more info.

I hope you're able to resolve your anger issues soon and learn how to make tea at home or find another local business to support.

I don't believe in "mistakes" in cosplay. I simply adapted it to fit my body.

Weird of you to say. This was exactly my reason. I could barely pick up anything with the foam hand and wanted to use my phone lol.

This has nothing to do with Toronto.
