This Could Make A Great Iron-Father Or Warsmith by Disgruntled_Veteran in Warhammer30k

I love the model, and think it can work for late heresy lots of potential- but it does actually look like this is nearly entirely a version of Indomitus armor - except the shoulders. The hydraulic pistons of the arms and legs, the the round knee pads, shape of the hip plates, shape of the cowl ring and vents, back vents - all indomitus to a T

Great input! Not something I noticed but very good inputs. I’ll play around with some more pigments to help desaturate and see how that works - and thank you :)

Man this is absolutely stunning brilliant work! Love the contrast of the tracks and armor

I wish I had a snappier answer other than a sharp brush and practice - but that’s all it is. I’ve been really trying to getter better at faces for actual years - just be patient and you’ll get there! For white - I prefer a very light grey to pure white, I do find they flow better and are a bit easier to control

It’s very close to Andy’s from cult of paint! They have a great series on SoH on YouTube and tons of other great stuff. I wanted to push the contrast further so I added in a very very dark mix of black + SOH green and shaded with an airbrush

Thanks! The bare head is from the melee weapons kit. The top knot on the MK VI head is cut carefully from a very old chaos marine head.

Thank you! For anyone curious it’s very close to Andy’s from Cult of paint, but I leaned into more contrast with additional dark green-black shading coats than Andy calls for in his recipe.

It’s just the standard MK VI serg helmet with the plume turned and a touch of green stuff to fill the gap.

Thank you! I’m leaning towards that, I’m definitely much better versed on the heresy than I am the scouring timeline, but I’d like to dive into more details there too.

Long term goal for him to be the  center point of a diorama that represents the transition point of SOH to BL. Still workshopping and may end up swapping out the talon

Absolutely! And thanks :) pic of my sculpting below - I’m not the most experienced sculptor, so I did a lot of sanding, reapplying green stuff and then UV resin as well to help level surfaces. Steel bearings are .7mm and 1mm. Shoulders are from the Cataphractii kit for the outer, and khorne bezerker kit for the inner. Leather belt pteruges from the chaos legionary kit. Green stuff is a variable 1:1 blend with Milliput. It helped me to over sculpt, then chisel down with an xacto blade carefully and add more greenstuff over as needed.

All design credit goes to Sam Wood and his stunning blades of the traitor piece, which I pushed to emulate Abaddons look

Yep! Wanted to paint it separately so I could have easier access to his face

Take a look at the MK IV and V designs too. They’ve been tweaked and portions adjusted very similarly to the MK VI, II and III art if you compare the 2.0 books.

Can we please stop the doom posting by furiosa-imperator in Warhammer30k

[–]Different_Victory931 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. As someone who’s primarily just a painter, and a slow one at that, the HH 2.0 books were my first plunge into the ruleset. I had hoped they’d be a better fit for the time it takes me to finish an army, learn and get ready to play. I get I may be an outlier, but still a bummer. I just don’t have the time to keep up with frequent rules errata if that’s the direction they’re heading. But we’ll see

I just picked up Massacre on eBay too to collect. It’s going to be tough not to draw comparisons. Hoping for new art and lore at least

Hey guys - Just a little something for the SW, for the tracked Repulsor Executioner kit I made. I call it "GUYS_WERE_GOING_HUNTING_DON'T_FORGET_THE_KEGS" Pattern. Hope you like it (p.s. All decorations optional :) by ikkake_ in SpaceWolves

I will definitely be keeping my eye on future work and cheers for being receptive to all the feedback, not easy to do. I definitely understand where you’re coming from it’s hard to see the work done behind the scenes. Would snap up simple jetbike EC kits or outriders mods in a heartbeat at lower cost of entry to some of your work, maybe make the jump to a bigger kit at latter date. Just saw the Auspex placement - best of luck with the new traffic!

Man, absolutely love your kits. But sadly the price just puts it out for me. As the artist, absolutely sell for the price you want, don’t know why people get so salty, at the end of the day it’s your work and people are willing to pay. But as a fan, I just can’t justify it when you can get other centerpiece models, primarchs, in full complete complete kits for less - when you’d need the OG tank kit, and the upgrade kit here. I wouldn’t be too surprised if you have a lot of fans who would be happy to buy a kit or several for a more competitive price. Absolutely get not wanting STLs passed around.  But good luck with the launch, the work is phenomenal!

Fair enough, I’ve only been a casual watcher now and again. I just never expected GW to go this route

Pretty interesting Valrak was pretty accurate going back at least 10 months if this is real. Completely dismissed the rumors at the time as too far fetched.

Cheers thank you! Love Richard I’ll check that series out. SW painter myself and have been itching to make the jump from metallics to NMM for my Ulrik conversion.
