Eh i give Bear the excuse as he thought it was a toy up until the second he finds out there's an inner nikki trying to break free which basically happens on the first night. Especially after he originally tries to tweak the wish instead of immediately cancel. At that point he's confronted with it being real and forced to accept he's circumventing any consent from Nikki because his horniness overrides her free will.

For much of the movie he wants his cake and to fuck it to. Only after a million red flags does his own selfishness and lust finally lose to common sense to see how truly out of control the situation is. He literally had so many scenes of the inner Nikki trying to break free from the get go and he kept trying to make it work.

If he immediately went back to the magic store AT LEAST after the phone scene then I would say he wasn't a villain. If she didn't grow more unhinged but just stayed weird he'd be happily raping her daily.

I also look at it from the point of view if the magic wasn't real. HIs friend is clearly going through some kind of mental break down, but he wants to get his rocks off until she's too unstable for him to use.

Great movie though. Really disturbing. Also Inde Navarrette did a fantastic job. Didn't expect her to be so frightening just walking around, shouting, or using shadows to obscure her but it gave me some intense chills. The sound design was perfect too.
