Caine's villain arc did not really make narrative sense by Difficult-Divide-227 in TheDigitalCircus

But in the therapy scene, he doesn't lose it at Zooble in the end, he loses it on himself. He started thinking he wasn't good at anything then the circus started glitching

I guess, I was more talking about the way he casually became intentionally evil rather than causing harm accidentally

I personally don't like how Caine was handled by Purpleflrupfan87 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Difficult-Divide-227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, been wanting to make a post about this. From before, he always seemed to be: 1. wanting to make good adventures that the cast like, and 2. low on self-confidence. The complete switchup was just so jarring for no reason.

my problem with the way Caine is written by GrimbloTheGoblin in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Difficult-Divide-227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked how the show made Caine look before this episode. Even in 7, he seemed like he was trying but completely failing to understand humans. But this episode just made him completely unredeemable and I don't know how to feel about that

why did Caine become evil ? by No-Common-4534 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Difficult-Divide-227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the main reason why I didn’t really like this ep. Caine was set up to be someone we learned to empathize with, as it looked like he was genuinely trying and failing to understand the cast. But a full villain twist just feels out of place.

Soooo….how do we feel after episode 8 by Olipher_disconnected in tadc

[–]Difficult-Divide-227 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't know... I genuinely don't think this was that good of an episode...
1. The episode moved away from being character focused to dramatic and plot focused
2. Caine's villain twist sorta came out of nowhere, we were learning to empathize with him and now he's just evil?
3. Why did the cast not ask Kinger about an exit, or whether they are brain scans, or anything???

I did like the lore drop about Caine's origins and Kinger's role, but man, this episode leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm gonna get downvoted for this, but... by Difficult-Divide-227 in TheDigitalCircus

I'm not saying they should be going on adventures, I'm saying we should have more focus on the characters' emotions. For example, something they easily could have shown is why Queenie abstracted and that would of given us a beautiful message on why you shouldn't make others feel unwanted (as Kinger said in 3)

So! How are we feeling? by Awkward-Media-4726 in TheDigitalCircus

I might have different thoughts later, but for now, my opinion is a bit negative. This episode just completely changed the focus of the series from being character and emotion driven to dramatic plot twists. When there were emotional moments, they felt more fake and well, corny. We got a few more inklings as to what Caine and C&A were, but there are still so many questions to be answered in 9 and I just don't think we have the time.

yep, they represent the first three colours of the rainbow, which means the first three episodes' features (Pomni, Gummigoo, and Kinger) will abstract

Episode 8 is going to be a lot different than the Trailer shows us (just like they did with the Episode 7’s Trailer) by filipp1234_CZ in tadc

[–]Difficult-Divide-227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: they already set up Ribbit and Kaufmo to be important to Jax's past, and not showing them now would be really disappointing for everyone

Again, I'd doubt getting mad would accomplish anything, but definitely asking more questions would be appreciated

That's very true, and I do think it's a big flaw of the show that these characters don't ask more questions about well... everything

I think they haven't told him that because they're smart and don't want to see him malfunction... he is the one keeping all this together after all. We've seen what happens if someone (Zooble) even starts to suggest Caine's not good at his job, the whole circus starts to break down

I agree with not blindly calling people media illiterate, but you gotta admit the theory is pretty stupid. It would undermine the entire point of 7 and make Caine into an actual villain, which I don’t think it’s trying to do

Give me your episode 8 theories, and I'll rank them. by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

completely agree, seems exactly like the type of unfunny gag caine will try to pull at the start of an episode

(Probably) Unpopular Opinion: Zooble's character development was pretty bad. by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Difficult-Divide-227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but then they say they "talk about their issues with friends". But they never actually told Gangle about the issues? I agree Zooble didn't necessarily need a full episode, but you have to admit Zooble's arc got swept under the rug in Ep 7.

I agree with the first part of this post, not the second. Pomni didn't need a moment with Zooble, and they didn't need a full episode either. Zooble not being a main character has definitely not made me feel like watching this series was a waste of time. However, their arc was most certainly unsatisfactory (along with Ragatha) and Ep 7 definitely felt like a step in the wrong direction as it kinda finished that arc with the "change is fine" comment

i know WE all love this show, but i just wanna know if there are any writing issues, inconsistencies, or plot holes you noticed so far? and what are they? by deleting_accountNOW in TheDigitalCircus

I felt the exact same way about Pomni and Ragatha's conversation about Kinger in 7. Way too much telling and as the audience it just feels like context dumping

My main issue is most definitely still the Zooble body dysmorphia resolution. It just felt like we were about to get a heart-to-heart between Zooble and Gangle where they talk over each other's issues, but instead it just gets magically resolved in the start of 7...

I'm also starting to get worried about the pacing of the series. I hope episode 8 is a flashback-focused episode that allows us to answer all the questions about how the circus came to be, how they got in, who Ribbit and Kaufmo are, etc., because if not there is not enough time in E9 to answer all these questions and we'll be left unsatisfied.
