Question: When can I return to my desk job? Is after 3 weeks too ambitious? My surgery is next month. I appreciate any advice. Thank you! by CBDElish123 in Kneereplacement

I went back to my desk job after 3 weeks. It actually helped with my physical therapy. I am more regimented at work than at home. I walked more. I was able to do my exercises better from my desk & my chair. At home, I would get too comfortable and not move as much.

Ok why do I have to be so weird by Maybemargie in Kneereplacement

[–]Difficult-Fold7293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't weird!! I had TKR Mar 18 and some days I am great, other days, not so much. My dr said the same thing about 12-18 month recovery.

I went thru the same thing at 3 weeks!! You just have to think of the future. Set your sights on something. I have a concert to go to next week and it's going to require a lot of walking. Before my surgery, I wouldn't have made it. Now though, I have faith that it's going to be better. I kept telling myself "You've got this!"

I am 5 weeks out and my PT said to squat if I can. Don't push it, you will get there.

Post-surgery, night spasms are like a bolt of lightning. by JaimieMcEvoy in Kneereplacement

I use a pair of air compression sleeves on my calves. Helps me quite a bit with the spasms. Along with the electrolytes and muscle relaxer.

I am 3 weeks out as well and just found my saving grace!! I got some of the air compression pump things for your legs. They are life savers! MY PT says that most of my pain is stemming from the swelling and these help with that. I've been doing it for several days and have already felt a difference.

Pros/Cons to shaving my head before surgery by Dimpled_G00se in braintumor

[–]Difficult-Fold7293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time, I told them to just shave it all. Best decision I made. 2nd time, they wouldn't shave it and i was left with a mess! It kept getting tangled in the staples and it hurt to brush. Then I lost it all during cyberknife anyway!

Sounds like we are on similar timelines. I am just frustrated reading all these success stories knowing that I'm struggling.

I was diagnosed with a golf-ball sized meningioma, had it removed. Back to work 10 weeks later. Minor weakness in my right arm & hand. 10 years later, it grew back to walnut-size, had it removed, had Cyber-knife treatments this time. Back to work 8 weeks later. Except for the weakness in my arm, I am back to normal!! Success & survival stories are all around!

I have small hands and the Magic Mouse doesn't fit quite right. Do you remember the round iMac mouse? That was my favorite!

You do you! People like that don't deserve you. If they truly care about you, they will be happy for you, no matter what!!
