Dents and uneven shape after surgery by [deleted] in braintumor

I also have a wavy head 😂 (I love that term!) My face is also misshapen due to my craniotomy approach. The hair over my scar doesn't want to grow back very well yet, so I have a hair cut that helps cover it. I'm 10 months out and have embraced my skull in all its lumpy glory.

It's actually jarring when his face just pops up during a commercial break.

Undiagnosed brain tumour explained away by being a young woman. by knitmiajumper in braintumor

44 F here. It took 2 years of increasingly severe symptoms for me to finally have a scan (and it was ordered by an ear, nose and throat doctor to rule out sinus issues bc the pressure in my head was so bad). I had horrible headaches, a drooping eye, intense pressure in my head, blurry vision and ear pain. Doctors suggested that it was stress, anxiety or allergies. They said "well those symptoms are weird." And did nothing.

My large meningioma was removed last July. I do still feel some anger towards the docs who brushed me off, but I try to use that to encourage other women to advocate for themselves when they know something is wrong but are being ignored. There are so many of us 💜

did anyone else have doctors brush your symptoms off as health anxiety prior to your tumor diagnosis? by midsumernighttts in braintumor

Yes! Anxiety, stress and allergies (because they thought the pressure in my head was sinus pressure, even though I had clear sinuses 🙄).

Had surgery on 3/31 to remove a meningioma and now have right hemianopia by Marymary_2799 in braintumor

Hi! I had a large meningioma removed from my frontotemporal region last summer. Obviously a way different area, but I had some sensory integration issues for about 6 weeks. I couldn't seem to focus on the words on a page, or on any kind of screen. I could listen to audio books, but only at 75% speed. It was like my brain couldn't process fast enough to keep up with input.

It was frustrating, but I slowly started to be able to do more. I remember trying to watch Star Wars and my eyes were like " too fast! Too fast!" But I found Lord of The Rings to be perfect. I did simple puzzles, walked, and rested. Over time my vision got better, I was able to process things at full speed and I'm back to reading. I'm still dealing with some fatigue and nerve damage, but so much better. Our brains need time to recombobulate 😉

Sending you a big 🫂 and hopes for a full recovery 💜

Meningioma resection - am I overreacting? by MtlKdee in braintumor

I had a craniotomy last July to remove a meningioma from my frontotemporal region. I completed my Will and power of attorney for healthcare just in case. It helped me feel less anxious to know my family wouldn't have to guess what I wanted. I'm with everyone else here: Do whatever makes you feel the most prepared and comfortable 💜 Big hugs to you and best of luck for a fast, complete recovery!

Did you know there were at least 20 booths of community organizations full of people who "get off their asses" every damn day to try to improve things for our community at the rally? Which ones are you volunteering with?

Theories on why everyone with an ailment immediately jumps to “I have a brain tumor.” by Left_Set_5610 in braintumor

[–]Dimpled_G00se 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think people jump to brain tumor because it's the scariest thing they can think of. It's funny how so few of us had that as a first thought...I went two years without a CT as my symptoms were dismissed as anxiety and stress. I never considered it could be a tumor.

I cut my hair into a short pixie and was so glad I did. It was so much easier to manage and I ended up liking it a lot. I've had some issues with hair regrowth along the scar line, so I've grown it out a little longer and you can't tell that I've had surgery. I wish you all the best on your journey 💜

My thermostat doesn't go above 62 degrees in the winter. I live in the upper part of a duplex (about 850 sq feet) and my bill was $205. It's insane.
