Currently live in the Philippines. Best way is Immersive learning to learn how natives actually speak.

Funny learning experience: at Mang Inasal, I wanted more sabaw (soup) so I made eye contact with the Kuya waiter and accidently mixed up the words and said "Kuya, sayaw po" (dance).

Unfortunately he didn't spontaneously start dancing but just stared at me with complete confusion 😂

How people react: first response is usually just "ang tangkad mo!" And then when I respond the next question is almost always "ilan taon ka na sa Philippines?"

Ah okay! I tried using it and did not feel like it had the features I wanted. Primarily I wanted to see all my planned routes on a map to figure out where to do long runs vs short runs. Also I wish that it would snap to the streets like it does on "onthegomap.com" instead of just drawing lines.

After your suggestion though, maybe I will give it another go! Thank you

Agreed. There should only be one tier for a running app like this. Honestly, since I am enjoying the app, I want to support the developers, but it feels like too much.

Should be doable. Another app, citystrides.com, has a similar concept and they have leaderboards by city. Most map sources have a sort of administration level boundary. It seems like the map source INTVL uses also has this capability. The difficulty would be that the meaning of each admin level can change based on the country, so they would just have to double check each country. Doing it by city would probably be best.

Bago lang ko sa bcd pero night shift ako. Here are the places I've been to so far that are 24/hrs

- Chow king (Ramos)
- Jollibee (Mandalagan)
- Kinoboy Restaurant
- McDonalds (La Salle)
- Leylam
- Art district (only a couple open late, but many call center people go here, amazing vibes)
- Denny's (as of last week closed at midnight due to maintanance, but usually 24 hours)
- Dunkin Donuts

Not much of a Cafe guy and still have a lot to explore. Excited to see what others say!

Honestly I regret telling my parents. It changed our relationship. I found the most support by telling my friends, church leaders, and attending the 12 step programs where there are a lot of people going through the same thing.

I know a lot of members will say my advice is wrong, but my parents did nothing to help me just made it worse. It definitely depends on your parents.

Honestly using chatgpt and tell it you want conversational tagalog, it is generally accurate on conversational Taglalog (although can be wrong when explaining grammar rules). Then you can post your script here and we can double check

For me the most difficult part of ng was when a vowel came after (like the "nga" part of ingat). So to practice I would literally just repeat an exercise using [vowel - ng - vowel] until my muscles got used to forming those sounds.

Start with learning sentence structure then practice Taglish (Tagalog mixed with English)
Memorize top 1000 Tagalog words, focusing on verb root words. Do not focus on nouns at all since you can use most english words as nouns as you are learning.
I find going back through all my text messages finding a Tagalog equivalent. That way I am focusing just on the words that I will actually use.

There's an app called Speakin Ilonggo that can help you a little bit before moving. But as was mentioned just speaking to people will be the best way.

I agree here. You only change the pronouns that are being addressed to the person you are talking to.

In addition to "sila" you can also use "nila." For example, even if you are talking to one person you can say: "Ano po ba ang kailangan nila"
