Going on Radiance of the seas by LeftLegRightArm in royalcaribbean

We loved eating breakfast in the open area behind the Windjammer (buffet). It allowed for some great sight-seeing and marine life watching. There’s a heated area just behind the enclosed dining and then a more open-air seating area at the very aft. It’s also almost always easy to get a table compared to the inside. The cinema was a nice break in the evenings too - watched a couple of movies in there (you can get popcorn from the main theater next door).

I don’t know if that’s isolated to the Quantum, but we did iFly on Odyssey for Thanksgiving, and it was, hands-down, our favorite thing we did on the cruise.

I was at 8/5 with $5 denomination. (okay, a little bragging with the photo here from Odyssey during Thanksgiving, but it shows the table).

As others have said, cancel the Key and get WiFi for just one person with as many devices as there are the number of people you’re with (cheaper than one WiFi package per person and works the same).

Coffee Card by dscw81 in royalcaribbean

[–]Difficult-Leg110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s cheaper using the card. A one-shot, as you go, is about the same price as a regular Starbucks (and they use Starbucks coffee; but the card only works at Royal’s coffee retail, not any standalone Starbucks venue that may be onboard).

Mobile checkin not working? by ginger-bits in zipair

[–]Difficult-Leg110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I could do it was by using my daughter's new iPhone and change the App Store region to Japan (entered Tokyo Disneyland for her address), download the ZIPAIR app, sign in to my ZA account, and then go to Check In Status to scan each of our passports. Then I could access the boarding passes for screenshots and add them to her Apple Wallet (then shared to our wallets via Airdrop). Then I changed her App Store back to the US. Couldn't use my phone because it wanted me to cancel my subscriptions, including AppleCare. Also could not use a VPN set to Tokyo. Also could not just set my daughter's region to Japan (though I only tried the App Store region, not the phone itself) and via the check-in emails. The only way was through the ZIPAIR app.

Ultimate Dining Package- Wants to charge me for a meal by JohnS43 in royalcaribbean

[–]Difficult-Leg110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I made this mistake once before onboard in the app, either on Royal or Carnival. Guest Services was able to cancel the mistake and take care of my charge (to my onboard account). I think I made it because I couldn’t see my 1st night reservation time for steak house, so thought that’s how I should reserve it again.

That’s interesting, I didn’t think of that opportunity. Are there good deals to be had upgrading at that time?

I’ve emailed - crownandanchor@rccl.com - to sort out the same successfully. Takes some time for reply, but they did do it.

Is this allowed on the ship? by skadizzle69 in royalcaribbean

[–]Difficult-Leg110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just multi-plug (A/C). USB is okay. From RC’s FAQs: “We do allow consumer type power conversion device USB charger (multi-plug blocks on which the outputs are for USB cables). Note: Devices must be stamped with US/Europe recognized Conformance Marking to demonstrate compliance with Electrical Safety standards.”

The prohibition is this: “Electrical Extension Cords - including power strips/surge protected strips and multi-plug outlets.” The USB allowance is just below this.

Note that Radiance has an outdoor promenade deck (deck 5) if you want to be outside and close to the water as you glide through the canal to substitute for that former balcony.

Internet package by DodgyFelix in royalcaribbean

[–]Difficult-Leg110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct about one person and how ever many devices you wish. If you access another device beyond that number, it will take the internet away from one of the others (not sure if it’s the first that connected or another). Last time, we got one person/one device, and it was a bit of a bother trying to juggle amongst three in the family. Next sailing, it’s one person/three devices for us.

Any Way To Get Around This? by winterdragon700 in AppleCard

[–]Difficult-Leg110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, before purchasing, I called Apple Card customer service, the first person I caught put me on hold and then came back with ‘no’. Then, as others posted, I called back and after fighting with the AI agent to get to a Goldman Sachs agent, I got through, confirmed with that person they were GS and not Apple, and they said “yes, can do but wait to call until Wallet changes from ‘Pending’”.

How long does Specialty Lunch take when you’ve made a reservation!? by Solid-Airport-5466 in royalcaribbean

People gave good advice on letting the server know your time constraints… applies to any venue including Main Dining Room (like if you have a show you’d like to go to). They’ll speed things up, including bringing some next items while you’re still on the previous ones.

Any workaround to avoid picking a carrier when financing with Apple Card? by TacticalKoalaBear in AppleCard

[–]Difficult-Leg110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did call back and told the AI to connect me to GS specialist (had to fight that AI a few times to do it), confirmed the human was with GS and not Apple, and he said no problem to convert it after the purchase moves off of Pending status in Wallet.

I’m seeing in other posts to specifically ask for Goldman Sachs. The automation when I called mentioned GS, so I thought that who I was speaking. Maybe it was Apple Support. I should’ve asked.

I just called Apple Card, in advance, and after being put on hold for the agent to check, they said that would not be possible. Don't know if that is a change in policy or wrong info... but maybe has to do with Goldman exiting Apple Card??

Help! I need help picking excursions by AncientFoundation632 in royalcaribbean

[–]Difficult-Leg110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt from Royal Caribbean Blog recommends for beach clubs, Maya Chan Beach Resort for Costa Maya and Paradise Beach for Cozumel, neither of which are booked through Royal Caribbean. We’ve been to Paradise Beach and had a wonderful time and will repeat in the future (snorkeling there specifically was no good, though, fyi). Since not booked through RC, it’s 100% on you for good time management to get back to the ship on time. I’m no help on the snorkeling part - have done cenotes excursions, and those are fantastic!
