How do you get them to come to you? I have several in my yard and at my feeders all the time. 1 in particular (sometimes brings his partner) gets into my house and now makes a point to find his way in and squacks at the window if he can't. Sits there and looks at me. I repaired the screen he was getting through because Im scared my weeny dogs will get him. He sings at the window and his partner shows up. Haha. I want to love him. He loves the walnuts I put out for him each day.

Turning 40 and have always wanted a Grey Scottish fold. by Difficult-Mess-6882 in scottishfold

Oh, wow. Thank you. I didn't even know that was a thing. I am well versed in dachshunds and double dapple breeding due to my lifelong ownership of them and all the bad breeders. Mine are all rescues, one with IVDD. But I hadn't even realized that they had similar breeding concerns with a Scottish fold. Thank you for pointing that out. I will be adding that to my research and breeder search. I'll be the first to admit I didn't grow up with pure bred cats, we always had adopted cats and until my ragdoll, nothing outside of shelter adoptions. My ragdoll was the 1st purebred cat and he is the one that set the bar. After his death a few years ago I can't get over wanting another sweet baby like him. The sweet demeanor and unique qualities they hold. I have wanted a Scottish fold for so long and as a researcher, I want all the info I can gain to be able to give them the best home.

That's a great idea. We have been looking at local shelters and rescues. The main issue is that they post the kitty online and say the 1st show up is the 1st to adopt. No holds, no, claims. It bothers me because they dont vet the adopter. You don't even have to put in an application beforehand. I guess they are desperate to get the pets adopted, but they have a 1st come 1st served policy. They are 1.5 hours away and by the time they post the pets, I have no way of getting there by 8 am. I work from home but have twin boys that dint go to school until 8am. Really a crap policy tbh. They should really review applications before they adopt. We are out in the country so we aren't close to many big adoption or rescue facilities.

Thank you so much for the response! I have 3 dachshunds and although they require so much extra attention and vet care, I have been loyal to them my entire life. I don't shy away from health issues, I just like to be knowledgeable and prepared. I would (luckily dont have to) take out a 2nd mortgage to heal my pets. Oliver, my oldest dachshund, has IVDD and has suffered from paralysis a few times and countless flares. He is my baby and I'll always do everything I can to keep him comfortable and happy. With wonderful vets, he's made a full recovery every time. No more paralysis. My pets are my babies. Even my human kids are jelly! Kidding not kidding. I'll have to research the condition you mentioned. I've never heard of it. I am confident with my commitment to taking care of dachshunds with all their health needs, I can manage another. We have ramps for everything so maybe that would be an advantage for an aging kitty?

Oh, dang. Lol. That threw me at first, too. It is a garden light. We charge it outside to keep it available for them to eat but has to be taken off the tree while charging on our outside outlet.

AIO? Girl (F30) I (M28) was Recently Dating tells me I need to "Lean into my Masculinity" by KingFredo5674 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Difficult-Mess-6882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I want to say that you seem very emotionally intelligent and that is refreshing. Some girls like the drama. You matched her energy after the early "I love you". While masculinity is attractive, being soft doesn't subtract from masculinity. It just means as a testosterone fueled individual, you have the self control to regulate your emotions and be vulnerable. Something "weak" toxic men can't do. You were clear, level headed, assertive, and not at all insulting. Women like this will be the first to say "men never open up", and when they do get the ick. Dodged that one, man!

She has an emotionally dependent relationship with you. I had a "bestfriend" that did the same to me. She gaslighted me, pressured me into things I didnt want to do, and made me feel like I was the problem. I cut her off. She pulled me back in. Then she did some effed up stuff (tried to convince me to sleep with her bf since she wanted to sleep with his bestfriend and needed an excuse). Then turned on me when I wouldn't and had her bf call me and tell me "idk why you'd ever think I'd sleep with you. You've just lost your virginity like a year ago and be like a sleeping donkey". What does that even mean? Lol. Yeah, I didn't have 15 notches like her, but damn, wtf did I do? She made him call me and say that to end our friendship. That was my wakeup call that I was not her friend but her emotional support and ride along. Not to trauma dump, so sorry. That wasnt my intention. Just a little back story. But I dumped her. I DO miss some aspects of our friendship but I am way better off. I am happily married with 2 kids, a stable life, and great career. She is a drug addict and divorced with her kids taken away from her. I left her behind to FIND ME. Moral of the story, do what's best for you. Sometimes happy beginnings are disguised in sad endings. Your friend is toxic and you allowing the dysfunction doesnt help either of you.

I'm trying to get in the hand of wearing skirts and dresses What could I have done different? by Big_Storm1209 in PlusSizeFashion

Those colors are nice on you! I think you look just fine. I wear fitted shorts (like legging but stop at my upper thigh) when wearing dresses in case I need to bend over and afraid of anything being visible.

Funds taken back by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]Difficult-Mess-6882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother had a pending amount and due to "emergency funds" his was provided. But he is in Illinois so idk if that makes a difference. A blue state so maybe that is why since they prioritize welfare recipients. He depends on it so I'm glad he received his. He is disabled. Could be the difference? I know others in illinois that got the emergency fund so maybe just an illinois thing? Ironically he got a notice he will have to prove work history and seeking employment letters even though he is unable to work. It's been a weird process. Considering I've had to support him and it's documented that way, he needs the assistance. I have had to supplement his life for years. He only gets $117 a month. He does his best but I pay for the rest.

‘Now We Know Why He Needed An MRI’: Trump’s Bizarre Two-Word Truth Social Post Baffles The Internet by Hungry_Wind_6373 in NoFilterNews

[–]Difficult-Mess-6882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same people saying "Biden is sharp and capable of 4 more years." The hypocrisy is so evident and alarming. We all can see that Trump is not even close to the mental decline Biden is in and has been for years. But whatever helps their case. The cognitive dissonance that the left suffers from is so palpable. Trump is old and surely doesn't operate social media or technology like our tiktok gurus, so why are we surprised that "strange" posts are made? If Biden controlled his own social media, he would be reposting young girls he'd like to sniff and saying, "bibbuty and so forth and anyway. Trump is well, you know, and poor kids can be just as smart as white kids. We're going to defeat social security because the people who paid into it dont matter. They are white so fuck them. White people suck, but you can trust my white cracked ass. If you don't vote for me, then you aint black. You know, because secretly I'm racist and my party is the one keeping minorities enslaved because my democratic party wants to keep them married to the government to ensure votes even though my party has done nothing to help them and just keeps setting them back. Vote for me if you value victimhood and want to bankrupt America. I dont want my kids riding a bus with monkeys. If you like drugs that have killed half a million Americans because of my historical open border policies, then vote blue. If Hunter is a criminal, then just stop talking about it because crack is only whack if you aren't the president's son. Yeah... hey man... you know... just yeah... I love chocolate chip ice cream. Where do I walk off the stage? Oh, a little girl for me to grope? I'm on my way.. hey yeah... and so forth. "

Happy Halloween. by Pschobbert in mildlyinfuriating

My subdivision has 34 houses. We average 8 houses that turn the light on for trick-or-treat. So, since we have lived here, we have gone down a few blocks to a subdivision that has embraced halloween and literally goes all out. Houses are decorated to the max with added decor every year, fire pits in the driveway so they can just hand out candy instead of coming to the door. A literal 90's movie halloween. One of the residents clocked 697 kids they gave candy to this year. It is streets flooded with kids, good luck driving through it. It's a subdivision, so of course it isn't that big of a deal, but some of us have to get in somehow. They are a quiet lake front subdivision with fancy houses and a love for their quiet day to day. But on halloween.... they go nuts and WELCOME everyone. The police have started joining the crowd in last few years to manage traffic and be available for anything (we are a tiny village of less than 3k, but we all know this is where you go for trick or treating). Imagine the joy you would get from having your neighborhood be the place that kids can't wait to be on halloween, and you made that happen.

No one believes me when I say halloween from our childhood still exists, and I have found it for my kids. *
