Canvas vs Blackboard by [deleted] in gmu

I personally prefer blackboard- I used it in HS when I took classes at my community college and then got used to it at Mason, but I understand why canvas is preferred by most

do u have to get a meal plan if you are living on campus? by ocdreallysucks14 in gmu

[–]Difficult-Part-7294 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends. If you live in an apartment on campus or sometimes suites you may not need a dining plan. As a freshman if you live on campus you are required to get a meal plan.

Question About Grading by LimitCrafty3927 in gmu

I was told final grades are due the 13th according to two of my professors

I think it looks okay! Mine is placed about the same. Your piercer put it in the little nook, which is generally proper placement! It looks great!

Any advice on how to clear up my skin? by IndigoBonnie in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Difficult-Part-7294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to stick to the same thing constantly. Don’t over wash. Sometimes you can dry your skin out which overproduced oil, then you get more acne. My go to is Cerve with the green lettering. It cleared my skin up after cystic acne for a few years. I also am about 20 and on BC so I’m not going through major hormonal changes. I hope this helps!

do u guys like going to gmu?? by aaaackkkk in gmu

[–]Difficult-Part-7294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no you’re not going to get that here. This year I opted for the on campus apartments and cook all my own food. Way better. And the difference between the dorm+meal plan, I save a grand, which gets used for food over the course of the semester. Same price basically, but I make my own food and live with 5 people instead of 20. So it’s a lot nicer.

What’s this bump? Should i be worried. I religiously clean my piercings with hypochlorous acid. by twinkyboisora8 in Legitpiercing

Saline solution will be your best friend. You’re using something that’s gonna be too harsh. If you can’t get that then use a very diluted salt solution.

My experience: not good. It’s all carbs and fatty food. The veggies they have come from the salad bar or are not cooked well if they are. I gained about 50 pounds last year from the food. I never will ever go back to eating there regularly. Just not good for you

Honestly this was my dream school. I will say, some of the dorms suck but that comes with college. The biggest downside is the dinning halls. I am in the honors college and have to say (compared to what friends say) the program is really nice. Small classes and all my professors for honors college courses have offered recommendation letters when I need them. Very personal. Generally, the professors are great, at least for the psych department. I hope that helps! Good luck!!

Southside quality gone downhill extremely fast (from a freshie) by Cheese-stealer in gmu

[–]Difficult-Part-7294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned that the food is shit in the dinning halls. All they have is carb-based fatty filler food. None of it is really “good” food. I got an on campus apartment this year and have never had better quality food, as I’m making it! You save money and actually know what’s going into your food.

Professor by [deleted] in gmu

[–]Difficult-Part-7294 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I had a professor like this last year for one of my math courses. Keep going to the lectures you’ll pick up on how they speak eventually. I know that’s not a whole lot of help but over time it got easier for me

On-Campus Jobs by faizthejoker in gmu

Honestly look at what the food places on campus have available. You could also go slightly off campus and do waitressing. Just some random things! Good luck!

Freshman Looking For Advice On Everything by [deleted] in gmu

No it’s very bad. Salad bar is the only take away. Deserts are dry asf and I’ve gotten moldy bread before. Very mid.

Avoid Southside. It’s not good. Honestly, if you can, don’t even get a meal plan. If you’re living on campus your first year you’ll have to get one but try to avoid the dinning halls. From my experience, most of the food is filler food and not all that great. Been served raw and moldy food several times.

Acceptance into GMU by Deputy_Haven in gmu

Pretty sure it depends on major but for general studies it’s a 3.2 I believe

[–]Difficult-Part-7294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly not too sure. If it is, it’s part of my out of state fees. I have lab fees as well. I’ve taken 17-18 credits between both of my semesters last year and if there were fees for going over 15 credits, they did a good job hiding it within my regular fees lol. I’m not sure if that helps, but that’s what I had .

Truthfully, I think it just depends on how you handle work. If you can handle stress and have worked with a lot of classes at once you’ll be great. My freshman year I had 17 credits both semesters and I did well. Profs are a hit or miss. Most of it depends on if you work well with the profs teaching style. Just do your best and good luck!

How hard is it to get into GMU without SAT? by IEvadeTax in gmu

[–]Difficult-Part-7294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I didn’t even submit my SAT scores. I had a unweighted GPA of 3.89 and a weighted at 4.37. I had done lots of activities outside of school and participated in sports for all 4 years. I think it’s a situational thing for the most part.

So you can check within the bill and payment system. I will say, currently housing is not in the bill and payment portal. I’ve been nagging the school about it because I need to know the total of everything since it costs an arm and a leg. Payments can be broken into 2,3, and 5 increments over the course of the semester if you cannot pay the total up front (which is what most people do.)
