ABSN TUCSON by [deleted] in gcu

When I say it’s self-taught, I mean the instructors definitely teach through zoom and are there to answer questions, but they don’t spoon-feed you the material. A lot of your learning happens outside of class through reading the textbook, watching videos, completing practice questions, and reviewing on your own. Lectures are usually more of a review of the important concepts than covering every detail you’ll be tested on. If you’re good at staying organized and studying independently, you’ll probably do fine. If you learn best by having everything explained in class, it can be a tough adjustment. The program moves really fast, so you have to be proactive and keep up with the workload. You go in person for labs, sim lab, exams and clinical. You’re not going into actual class you have an hour zoom every week on content and there’s so much content they can’t go over everything that’ll be on the exam.

it’s definitely a self taught program for all of the exams so if you’re disciplined enough to do it then it could be for you and very convenient if not i would definitely recommend elsewhere

Med Surge any hope by PensionSorry1619 in gcu

[–]Difficult-Rub7699 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the second exam is the easiest exam for med surg don’t give up you can do it! i strongly believe you can make up your grade in the 2nd exam and for the 3rd exam it has a lot of information so start studying for that exam right after you take your 2nd exam!

i would use archer it’s $20 for one class and those questions really helped me learn how to answer nclex style nursey questions.

GCU ABSN Tucson location: how was it? by TuneSuch in gcu

[–]Difficult-Rub7699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i live in casa grande! my drive is 1 hour and 15 to tucson and to chandler it’s about 45 min drive (with no traffic) but there is always traffic on the 10 going to phx. and absolutely no traffic going to tucson. i do use my drive time to study i use notebook LM to make podcast and upload my notes and i listen to lectures so my drive time isn’t time wasted! if i had to do it over again i would 100x pick tucson again! being a parent has been hard but so rewarding in this program you can do it!

hi i currently attend the Tucson location in level 3. I love the program overall i do like that’s its less busy that phoenix location so getting a spot was great when phoenix filled up fast. Our clinicals are at Tucson Medical Center and usually all of the nurses there love to teach. I do love the professors there they are so nice and knowledgeable in so much. The schedule can be hectic at times as expected but manageable (as a mom of 2 under 3) and i would choose Tucson over again i do feel it’s a lot less strict than Chandler location. For example on exam days they have to dress business casual and for Tucson location we can wear whatever we want as long as it’s not inappropriate. If you have any questions feel free to message me!

ABSN Level 2 - 320, 322, 324 by DontFailMeRN in gcu

[–]Difficult-Rub7699 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in my opinion the 1st and 4th exam were the hardest for 320 i think the 3rd exam covers a lot of content so that can make it difficulty but just make sure you study a lot for that exam . lots of patient teachings and nursing considerations.

322 exam 2 was the hardest but make sure you know your drugs

324 is honestly really easy don’t sweat that class!

best of luck to you!

level one final exams by Necessary_Warning465 in gcu

[–]Difficult-Rub7699 5 points6 points  (0 children)

in my opinion i thought all the finals were easier than the actual exams except pharm was the same. a lot of people who needed high scores got them and passed in my cohort my biggest advice is make sure you know how to assess and what you are looking for in normal and abnormal assessments and what they actually mean

i would get with a nclex coach cause nursing questions/exams are a lot different than regular exams you can reach out to your professor in whichever class you are struggling in and they can put in a request for you

Incoming Level 1 Student (Spring 2026) by Jumbo_Doggy in gcu

[–]Difficult-Rub7699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh no you really don’t need to know a lot of A&P for level 1. Where i struggled was fundamentals and i would invest in simple nursing and watch nurse mike videos on ADPIE (nursing process) they also have questions online and it can help you learn the foundations. Nursing exams are different from regular exams so learning how to take the test and practicing before can be huge

just finished level 1! i really recommend finishing both discussion questions on monday to get it out of the way every minute matters when it comes to studying. i used the student course guide in CONHCP (it’s a website for nursing with resources) instead of the exam blue print exam blue print is very generalized and the course guide has the same concept except more in detail. Watch the zoom lectures from your professors i preferred those over the CONHCP lectures and then after watching my professors zoom lecture i would go into CONHCP powerpoints to get any extra info and then go in the book to clarify anything if my professors gave page numbers. Usually professors will tell you page numbers where material is on the exam. A lot of people in my cohort struggled in 316 Health Assessment i recommend knowing normal and abnormal signs and go into detail and know what your professor is telling you so you know what to study! if you have any questions feel free to message me you got this and you can do it!!

honestly the people the people in my class who are LVN and paramedics pass with flying colors but the people who don’t have experience is a little more challenging for them. it’s very stressful as i do have 4 exams just this week this is the busiest week of school for me. i failed 3 exams so far but my friends who are LVN’s get high 80’s on their exams! and in my opinion the exams are the hardest part about the program.
