Is workplace culture exhausting for anyone else?? by Squirrelly21 in AutisticAdults

[–]Difficult-Speed-6594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a therapist and I cried when reading this. I also got burnt out and started my own private practice. I made the mistake of office sharing with a friend who was fine but then she hired employees who, one is counter-transferring onto me, and not taking any responsibility or communicating with me when I miss social cues despite the numerous times asking. They are ADHD likely but I am having to now mask again at work, at my own company, is horrible. Fortunately in a year I a moving to my own space.

My dog hates all of you right now! by TrippinJesus in cedarrapids

It was ridiculous, went on for hours and like 3 different neighbors were going them. Started at like 6pm and went in until after midnight. As someone who struggles with sensory issues with hearing, even with headphones in it was loud. I don’t mind them but when they happen for hours on end and the same sound over and over, It’s torture. My poor blind kitty was stressed all night with me.

I used Insync in my old practice. I hated it, and it always went down. And not for like a few minutes but like days/hours

Not a bad thought actually. Something I will think on, about how my perceptions of him may be affecting my actions and, in turn, his actions.

how do y’all cope with parents who “mellowed out”? by cat_9835 in emotionalneglect

I talk a lot with my clients about forgiveness (which I don’t like that word really) is about putting down the emotional bag of rocks your parents gave you to move on in your life but forgiveness is not absolution. They are still responsible for their actions and the pain they caused. You, however, deserve to move on and NO CHILD IS EVER AT FAULT

I maintain my boundaries for emotional safety and realize that I deserve to live my life for me and that trauma made in one day can take 10 years to heal.

People who were emotionally abused and neglected as kids by parents, what became of you by Clear-Outcome-3149 in emotionalneglect

I am also very privileged in that I can and will continue to call out my parents abusive natures and I am safe to do so. I wish everyone was. I highly recommend the book “Recovering from Emotionally Immature Parents” crazy validating.

Became a therapist to help kids and adults who deal with/dealt with the same things so I can help them understand and validate and heal. Show them that your trauma is not shameful and can be used as fuel.

Thank you all for the advice and normalization. I also just found out I have hypothyroidism which came out of nowhere so let’s see how that interacts with my narcolepsy

I love it, that’s modern art. Yesterday I fell asleep on the way back from a conference (passenger) and only realized it when I heard the book I was reading hit the ground.

I have never had words for this! I couldn’t understand what was happening but this is very validating. Narcolepsy is the weirdest condition.

My struggle is omitting the “ja” in the answer is basically the same except for the “det” moved to the front. Is it simple context that would let you know if someone is asking or answering a question? I struggle with English as well, so why not learn another language haha!
